Well, I blame the Facebook and Smartphones for my complete and utter lack of blog entries. Also, I'm kinda convinced that nobody actually reads these thing anyway . . . so there's that.

Is it funny that I follow up the last post that was titled "Ooops It's Been a Month" by not doing another entry for almost 3 months?! It's Facebook's fault, yeah, I'm going with THAT explanation . . . Anyway, tonight I spent some time and updated a bunch of pictures of the website and stuff so that's something to look at. I was missing a BUNCH of pictures and happened to have the big camera plugged into the computer anyway so when everyone went to bed I went to town! Scroll through that at your leisure! In the meantime, today we adventured along the boardwalk section of the Appalachian Trail that goes through Vernon, NJ. Here are some shots of the trail and the plastic pony companions that tagged along so I had something to take pictures of other than my child the whole time: That whole boardwalk is so neat and luckily this morning we got there early enough to beat the crowds. On our way out we were passing people constantly. We headed to Green Valley Tack in Pine Island, NY afterwards because we had a gift card. I got a few essentials for the girls, and a few non-essentials, too! After that it was Price Chopper and home to work in the studio. It turned out to be a productive afternoon. I rode both girls bareback after dark and was able to finish and list/sell these two models as well: This little girl is going home with a 3D printed Gypsy Vanner model that I'm finishing up soon. This guy has just been listed to MH$P looking for a great new holiday home! You might not be able to tell but she's got a rainbow horn and tints at the end of her mane in rainbow, too. She was so much fun to concoct as she was painted. Another model where I was truly building the plane in mid air! Alright, well thanks for making it this far! Hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Small Business Saturday, too!
With any luck it won't be another 3 months before I update thing again! Fingers crossed! At least I did some stuff, though! First, I finished a few models: That's the custom Astrid that's currently for sale! She's super cute and I LOVE the mold so much that I've already started another custom on her. The next one is going to be extravagant and nowhere need realistic. She's been a lot of fun so far but I'd really like her fancy sister to find a new home, too! This little Crabapple resin arrived, was prepped and painted, too! She's going home soon to Arizona! Emily got a new big drafter! He's got added feathering and a new mane and tail with red and blueish rose sculpted in them! I'm very pleased with the way he came out and excited for her to see him in person! In travel news, Princess Sea Glass Wrack Line of Wing's Neck travelled to Maine with us this year to stay at a lovely place on Duck Cove. She was indeed pleased with the sea glass we were able to gather during our stay! This was taken only a few days in! So, there, it's been a month since I last posted but it's been a busy month, at least. That's the best excuse I can come up with! Next Thursday it's back to work for the school year and I'm looking forward to it!
Hope everyone else had a good week and TGIF tomorrow! Is it ever too soon for a Halloween themed model? Maybe, but maybe NOT! It sounds crazy but while this horse was hanging around on my shelves she just decided that she wanted to be a special lady! I went a little nuts with the jet black skeletal system throughout her body but had to leave the glittery mane and tail! Her spooky black eyes kind of complete the package but still leave you wondering - is she a good or an evil spirit?
That's for her new owner to decide! Shoot me and email or contact me thorough the homepage if that person is YOU! For the 4th of July I usually do an abbreviated desensitization session with the girls and one of my nice American flags. This year was no different but it was a much shorter session because they full on didn't care at all about the big, colorful thing flapping away! It was just the thing in the way of their cookies. Good girls! The next time I'm not lazy and actually tack up my horse instead of throwing on a bareback pad I'm going to practice carrying the flag as well. The summer travels of Princess Sea Glass Wrack Line of Wing's Neck continue! We took a short hike in a local preserve and she came along. She also got to meet a Wood Turtle who was crossing the path ahead of us! I'm not sure how exactly the turtle felt about us watching but she/he certainly did give us " the look" for several awkward seconds at a time! This lady was completed and listed online earlier in the week. She's only on Facebook so far, waiting her turn to go up o MH$P. I'm not rushing because everything in slow post Breyerfest weekend. She's pretty on my shelves for now! Besides her I've got 3 others in the works currently. One for Rebecca is here for some peeling epoxy repairs and it's slow going on that one. Another is a Venti (I think!) sized Crabapple resin. She's adorable and her pinned ears made her that much easier to prep. I'm always afraid of busting off ears!
Finally I'm pretty excited about the Astrid custom I'm working on right now. She's got a new, braided mane and will eventually have a bay road paintjob. She's so stinking cute! I keep saying that I can't wait for this mold to be a regular run so I can buy a case of them to customize! Hope everyone's having a great week! Wow! I've been a lax blogger occasionally but boy did I really do it this time! I could list a whole bunch of excused about the busy end of the school year and other stuff but instead I'll just photo dump some pictures! This is Princess Sea Glass Wrack Line of Wing's Neck. Big fancy name for a big, fancy girl that I got a steal of a deal on as she was supposed to get some touchups. She'll never be LSQ but she'll get to travel instead! Here are her first two excursions: Cape Cod June '22 She earned her name by having almost daily trips with me along the shoreline where I was picking up sea glass and other cool stuff. I had packed her in what I found was the perfect pouch for collecting tiny things on my walk! The Wrack Line is the high tide line where stuff gets dropped by the tide as it recedes. Her bag was usually jingling by the time we were done each day with shards of smooth sea glass settling in between her front hooves. Sounds horrifying, right?! I don't really mind because she'll never be a LSQ horse so a few tiny marks won't hurt much and I can always touch them up, too! Along the way she just HAD to get posed for some pictures, too! And that one, up there, was a mistake! Super fun to come home on a Tuesday at the end of June and have to tell my husband I "won" a Best Offer model (my first one!)
This is "Run Around Sue" a OOAK by Sheryl Leisure and she's my new favorite. I had her glossed, of course, and she arrived home after the 4th of July. I had her song stuck in my head all day! She won't be running around here much but I'll probably take her down to the shore for her pictures like I do for everyone eventually! Hope everyone's having a great week so far! This was a big week for repairs in the studio. One was intentional but was supposed to just be touchups and the other was purchased as a fun challenge for myself and my color matching skills. The first was a Remington resin that I painted a year or so ago to a super flashy black frame overo paint horse. He took a tip over on he shelves with his new owner and suffered some rubs and dings. One his way here his whole left ear got mashed up pretty badly. That was a surprise when I took him out of his padded bag. I was wondering what those little noises were - pieces of ear hitting the floor beneath me. Dang! Well his ear got pinned and baking soda/Crazy glued and then epoxy went over top of that to smooth everything out. Luckily it was an all back ear so the painting part was pretty simple. I just realized that I didn't take ANY pictures of him finished. Whoops- the before and after shots would've been pretty dramatic, too. He's packed in like 4 layers of bubble wrap and is headed home on Tuesday! The second hospital horse was this handsome dude: "2 Times the Charm" is an OOAK Stone stock horse from 2016 who took some abuse from a kitten in the form of chew marks on all of his legs. It required sanding, tiny epoxy work, more sanding, paint matching and re-glossing of his lower legs. He's not 100% perfect but SO much better! I personally would not hesitate to live show him, especially in performance, if there were any shows I was able to make it to in my area! I can't wait to have a little free time to tack him up tomorrow.
Here's a model I was glad to get done and even more glad that he's going to a great collection with a buddy of mine! He is a Breyer traditional sized Theo that has a whole new mane, forelock and tail. Emily picked a really neat red roan tobiano paint job for him and I think it suites him well (although I love this mold in pretty much any color it seems!) He'll be heading out her way shortly to join the herd of custom drafters! Also in the works this weekend is this lovely ISH who is is need of some restoration work. He suffered some great injustices at the teeth of an adorable kitten but I'm confident I can bring him back to *most of* his former glory! He's all "packed" up and ready to have teeny, tiny bits of epoxy thrown at him!
I can't wait to have him up on my shelves looking good as new! Hope everyone's have a great weekend and is in one of the milder parts of the country . . . it's 94 in New Jersey but there are snowflakes falling in Colorado- craziness LOL This pretty paintover CM Idocus has just been listed to MH$P and mini-Everest pup will be headed home to her family (and real life sized Everest, too!)
Just finished this guy, a custom Marwari with newly sculpted (non Marwari style) ears. He's going on MH$P when I get a chance unless someone snatches him up before then! Besides him I've got a bunch of bodies that I'm excited to start messing with AND a custom Astrid in the works as well! I'm really excited about the way she's coming out so I'll have to post some photos of her soon.
