Meanwhile, Minda was surprised with the gift that Bartholomew brought her this morning!
Love is in the air . . . and in the "new" Breyer barn that I acquired from my daughter when she (courtesy of a Craiglist ad) recently upgraded to the larger version. She's got the big one with the removable roof. It's in great shape and pretty darn cool! I got this model which I think is small traditional or classic sized and it's just dying for me to jazz it up a little big. Luckily, there is a doll house store relatively nearby so I might bring it down there and do some shopping!

Well, it happened again. I never thought it would after what I spent on the Happy Appy but it happened again. Here's the Peter Stone OOAK ISH named Stoddard: Isn't he pretty much the most handsome piece of plastic horseflesh you've ever seen?! I think so but I'm a total sucker for a good palomino (my first horse was a pally, I blame her!) and that "rock star" style mane/tail combination. . . I just can't control myself! I also did something else, again. I finished another classic sized Pegasus as a black leopard appy. Truth be told I was working on him before I started Sylph and just trying out the pattern to see how it looked. It was cute on him and really cool on Sylph, who will be on his way "home" tomorrow morning! This little guy was a super fun test subject and has already been listed to MH$P to further raise funds for our family Disney adventure! We plowed, we shoveled and shoveled, and SHOVELED (front walk, horses' gates, barn stairs, around the trailer, inside the trailer, to the woodpile, the woodpile itself, the dumptruck, the plow truck) shovel, shovel, shovel! I actually don't mind shoveling, especially this nice, cold, light and fluffy snow. Even though we got over 20 inches is was pretty easy to move around so it wasn't bad at all. The best part was, at the end of the day, we were rewarded with this gorgeous winter sunset . . . And those weren't even the prettiest views! I was outside by the horses without my camera when it was lighting the clouds up pink and orange at the same time. I also had time to finish Sylph today! Well, he's done as long as Valerie approves!
It's snowing now! Who wants to play "Where's Cruise?" in the blizzard like conditions? Can you just barely see his stripe peeking out of the barn. That's him saying, "Nope, I'm good Riiiiiiiiight here. Thank you very much." They've got the full, open two stalls to share, a rack full of hay on one side and bedding on the other. Cruise and his pony are ready to hunker down for the day and play tomorrow! The dog, on the other hand, would live outside today if we gave her the choice! She runs, she dives into the snow, she's having a blast!
Next, I'm off to keep working on the leopard appy Sylph resin I'm painting for Valerie- can't wait for you to check her out!
Have a great (even if it's snowy!) day everyone! I'm a die hard fan of winter folks but It is so cold here right now! The wind has literally been roaring this afternoon and we can't believe the power hasn't gone out. I actually tried to prime a model last night and the wind just took the Krylon and looped it up, around and it was gone before it even made contact with the resin- looked kind of cool actually even if it was annoying, too! I got new shelves for the "studio" which afford me much more space. I enjoyed organizing both my stuff and my daughter's on all 5 levels if that this weekend. The new shelves allow her to have full access to my "body models" and she is really enjoying that. She also just got a HUGE Breyer barn that I found of Criagslist this weekend and that's a blast. Between the "new" barn and the extra models to play with, the girl is on Cloud 9! We're expecting some kind of weather this weekend so hopefully we'll at least get some snow out of the deal because we haven't had any yet . . . not that I'd complain if we had a snow free year! Heck knows we've gotten our fair share for the last few years! It was so nasty this morning that even the pony, Guinivere, with her 4 inch long shaggy dog winter coat has a shiver going on. I fed them inside and that seemed to keep her in out of the wind. Poor girl! I know it's too early but I'm counting down the days until spring already! Keep warm everyone! I was recently luck enough to be able to work out a trade with western tack maker, Yvonda Robinett for this AWESOME saddle! It was supposed to be for one of my Wintersong models or perhaps a big old Cleveland Bay but the Happy Appy just snuck right up underneath it and hasn't shook it off yet! I have to make (or order!) another bridle just for him since the one it came with was for the BIG boys but I just couldn't wait for your to check this out! The details are just amazing between the carving and edging even on places you'd really never see it but can on a saddle this scale . . . it's just gorgeous! I'm not sure what my favorite part is . . . the cool, unique seat, the carved, edged saddle hore or the way the tooling lines up PERFECTLY on the pommel. Everything was lined beautifully, too, and without adding excessive bulk. Check out the pictures and watch for it in future posts! I already can't wait to be able to add another one of her saddles to my collection!
Been a little busy for the last few days doing little things here and there for my sister in laws baby shower on Sunday. Luckily, one of those things was painting a bare tree on canvas for guest to put a thumbprint "leaf" on. That project naturally lead me to not put down the paintbrush and, instead, keep going on a few models that were getting bored on my painting table! We want to take my daughter to Disney this year so it's full steam ahead with commission and sales pieces from now until we get there (and, who am I kidding, after we get back, too!) Anyway, the Wintersong is a simple CM destined for fame on eBay, the prancing foal is waiting for me to figure out a color scheme . . . any ideas?? The little drafter is going to be some shade of grey and the other, random, older stablemate may end up being a solid black or bay. Keep an eye out for them online in the next few weeks. Besides them I've got: a Sylph to be prepped/painted a remade Sham to be painted a Laredo to get sculpted feathering and be painted a Huck Bay that needs a tail, prep work and a paintjob a Roxy that needs her neck cleaned up another Wintersong with a mohawk and new tail that pretty much just needs a paintjob Plenty to do, plenty to do! I can probably fit in one more model before the spring but I don't quite want to commit to it yet because I've fallen in love with Moxie and want to perhaps have time to paint one of those for myself! This saddle set is for sale on MH$P because it's place in my collection has been filled with a set by Yvonda Robinett. Can't wait to take pictures of this gorgeous saddle that just arrived! It's my favorite one yet because it fits my big boys AND the stock horses, too!
Happy New Year to my faithful readers, (both of you!) May 2016 be a fun and prosperous year for all!
