Yesterday was all about outdoor things: rock walls, working the horses, moving dirt and other fun stuff! Today is started to rain right after the girls got their morning meal. So, after eating breakfast ourselves, girlie and I took a walk to where they're clearing lots behind the house and we rescued/rehomed 6 baby white pine trees and one blueberry- all in the pouring rain. After we dried off we did all sorts of artsy things: If this one looks similar to one I did last week that's because it does! That one sold so quickly I figured I'd see if I could find the body to do another one. As luck would have it, Marco's had the set and I had a coupon! Emily's horse is getting some serious time today, too! He was already prepped, primed and roaned out so there was just the detail work to do today. . . so . . . much . . . detail work! It worked out well though because I could do a little here and there in between other projects that were going on. I'm loving working on this new Georg mold and I'm so glad to have 3 more of them on their way here as I type. They're somewhere near the eastern edge of South Dakota and expected to arrive by Thursday. He's such a big cutie that I'm going to be seriously in danger of added a few more customs of him to MY collection! Hope Everyone has a Great Week!

Somehow I didn't get the memo that is was supposed to rain today until pretty much when it started to rain! Instead of priming a few of the horses I added to them and others with what may turn out to be the last scraps of my epoxy. Emily's new boy got a whole new mane, forelock and a little bit added to his tail. I couldn't resist putting a little bow on him, too! It seems dwarfed by his gigantic BUTT! This Idocus custom is ready for some final prep and priming as well now that he's got an open mouth and his tongue hanging out. He's goofy looking and I'm going to have fun painting him! I forget to snap a picture of Rebecca's work in progress Secretariat custom. Who knew that mold would look so much better with a lowered, straightened neck and head. There has also been progress on my current favorite project- the SeaHorse. I put color onto the Starfish and sand dollars so far. Probably have a zillion hours left on him yet but stuff is happening and it's still all fun! There will be several more horses added to the For Sale page over the next day or so, customs, OFs and a few bodies, perhaps. Check them out and send me an email if you think they need to join your herd!
Hope everyone had a great rest of the week! These two are done and ready to head south to Florida early this week! They were a fun commission pair! My favorite project this weekend was finishing up this handsome dude! After he was prepped and got his new mane and tail, the blue roan paintjob just kind of happened. He'll be looking for a new home in the next week or so once everything has got time to dry and I can gloss his eyes and stuff. The only problem is that I like him so much I might just keep him! After staring at him for a few hours off and on, I decided that he needed a star and that pink diamond nose I love so much. He'll be listed on MH$P at some point this week so keep an eye out or email me directly if you think you might want to add him to your herd sooner!
Hope everyone has a great week! Today started out sour with the discovery that the puppy (who's barely even that anymore so there's hardly and excuse) kind of ate my camera a little bit. It still took pictures but I had to pry the shutter open the last 1/3 of the way, you couldn't review the photos you took except on the computer and none of the menu buttons worked. I didn't take long to resign myself to the fact that I'd need to get a new camera. The good news is that when I bought mine a few years ago my mom bought the same one. It had exactly 43 pictures on it (to my 1000+) so she just gave me hers! Total Win! Anyway, after doing some stuff outside I finished off this guy who has been getting his priming done this week: I'm also SO excited to be almost finished with my first Georg custom. Granted, it is a simple paint job but I did that to highlight all the new fluffy hair that I added! He just needs a day or so to dry really well and then he'll be listed on the sales pages . . . probably. I'm really liking him and I might not mind if he sticks around! Tomorrow we're hoping to hit the trails since the weather is supposed to be nice again- yay Spring! Have a great rest of your weekend, everyone!
What a week! There were 2 late afternoons of meeting, an online BINGO game, 17 degree mornings more than once, a day of driving rain, a COVID shot and a 4 mile hike! Sunday the kid and I took to the trail for a jaunt through the NY woods. We messed up and missed a turn that took us at least 3 miles off course down the loveliest old moss covered fire road. That cost us some time but we did find this random bench with gorgeous views of who knows where! There were also some pretty intense rock outcroppings along the way leading up to our mess up point. They were called the "Cat Rocks" on the map and they were so nuts that there were actually go around trails labeled. Don't remember seeing anything like that on the New Jersey section of the trail! All things considered it was a really nice section of the trail between 17A and Lakes Road. Wednesday was my first COVID shot and it knocked me on my butt. I wasn't upset that I had committed to playing online BINGO with 49 of my closest Stone Horse buddies on Facebook for St. Patrick's Day. Imagine my surprise when I won the picture frame round! Apparently I'm getting a cute little Chip model- fun! While I was playing BINGO and after eating our corned beef and cabbage dinner, I started messing with the resculpting of the first Theo/Georg model I got my hands on! He got a new tail on Wednesday, I ran the grinder up and down his neck last night and sculpted on a new forelock. Tonight he got his new mane. I'm LOVING the way he's coming out so far! Here he is compared to the OF one I haven't messed with at all yet. Yes, he will, most likely be a sales piece. I hope to get him fully prepped and start priming tomorrow since the weather is supposed to be decent again. I made the girls work for a little while while the shadows got long this afternoon. Can you tell how thrilled they were? More updates from the studio will be forthcoming as the weekend progresses!
Hope Everyone had a Great Week! This beautiful spring weather is bringing some beautiful spring models out of the studio these days! This little flowery lady is currently listed to eBay along with her big even more flowery pony gelding friend! I was also very excited to finally pick a color, or I guess in this case lack thereof, for the little bonnet wearing donkey this morning. I decided that with all the little springy details and colors we'd have going on with her hat, flowers, ribbons and wraps that we could just go easy on the body color and make her a white pearl donkey! I'm glad that's the route I took because she's 99% done as of tonight and is still a real stand out even in solid white! She's most likely replacing the other donkey CM I did a few years ago, Reba. That lady will be listed to either Facebook or MH$P shortly to look for a new home! We had a cold start but things warmed up to be quite a nice day! The kid and hubby worked out by the chicken coop for awhile and then we took a walk with Sam around our buddies new neighborhood. Finishing and these two models was just a bonus for today! Tomorrow we continue heading North on the Appalachian Trail!
I finally braved the windy cold and made the horse work a little bit this weekend. We took a walk around the paddock so she could get out of the snow. You know the first place she wanted to go? You guessed it- back into the fresh snow! Guinivere had a little "in hand" refresher as well just to make sure all the important buttons were still installed before the kid starts playing with her more in the nice weather. Clearly it was and exhausting 5 minute lesson. It's been a stretch since I last posted here so I'm making time on a Sunday to get something down on the screen. I've been finding the whole social media end of this to be a little overwhelming with the new Facebook page lately and I'm not 100% sure I love the platform yet. I'm not terribly concerned about that because it'll probably be obsolete by the time I get really good at it! I knew THAT going into all this! Anyway, Remington is up for offers on MH$P and I'm waiting for him to go off to his new home and hopefully be shown! He's far to flashy to hang out around here! I've also been working on Sam, the dog's, portrait model but I forgot to snap a picture of it. He's coming out really good and I'm excited to add his brindle markings on night this week. So far he's base coated and I added his white belly spot, toes and tail tip. I painted his tongue and white chin hairs and then shaded the inside of his ears before doing his eyes. They aren't quite spot on yet but they're so tiny that I can't do them forever at a time! The thing that's taken up most of my time lately has been trying to pin down a color for THIS guy: I got him really good and prepped and they really good and primed in white only to proceed to stare at him on the studio desk for over a week in between Googling images in an attempt to visualize him in some sort of color that would work for everything I wanted him to be. I even took a trip down to Hobby Lobby with my mother to check out their paint selection which lead me to decide on a bright palomino for him. I got everything home and then just didn't "see it" anymore so now he's a blue roan. That should fit better with the fantasy elements I want to incorporate anyway . . . funny how things go! He is currently in a state of having 0 shading anywhere but I have big plans that I hope will allow his unique features to still be highlighted AND have him wear a semi realistic color . . . oh year, and fish scales, he'll also be wearing fish scales!
One thing is for sure it is going to be quite the experience painting all the tiny things on this horse. I should count how many tiny sea things he's got stuck to him just out of curiosity. I can't wait to get to that point but it's still probably 2 weeks away right now. Especially since the nice weather is coming! Have a great week everyone! |
