Either way, she'll be listed on sales pages momentarily so go check her out! Then, I'm off to work on a Moxie resin who's working her way to being . . . drum roll please . . . a dappled grey!
The sun may have set, in lovely fashion, but there was one more horse that wanted to be dated '17 on it's belly. I hope it's not too early to start thinking about Valentine's Day! I really liked playing with the classic Morgan mare. She's got such pretty, refined features! Can't wait to paint another one- perhaps in a slightly more realistic color?!

Now that it's officially reached the temperature of "it totally sucks to be outside" AKA 6 degrees, I've been making great strides in the studio! Here's the latest little guy completed. He's been listed on sales pages but I'm more than happy to hang onto him and show him until he finds a new home: More photos later as I, hopefully, finish up another horse or two!
Meanwhile, more grey ponies . . . there is not better morning greeting than this! Welcome to winter in north Jersey . . . it was 6 degrees this morning . . . 6 flipping degrees! I'm a winter lover but that's taking it about 15 degrees too far for me! The good news is that it gave me a good opportunity to stay the heck inside and tidy up the studio. I also just listed 3 or 4 various things looking for new homes: set of Schleich cows, some random bases, a Chris Nandell-Flint book. Check out the ads on MH$P and get some good deals! It turned out to be a perfect day for Eugene's new blanket to arrive in the mail! He has been wearing one that was about 4 inches too big (it is Guinivere) but now he's got his own perfect 56" blanket. I had 2 choices of print: one was geometric shaped and the one I chose is a dog pattern and the dogs are wearing patterned blankets, too! He looks so cute in it! I like having the peace of mind knowing I now have 1 blanket for each of them should the need arise. It blows my mind that they range from Eugene's 56" to Nighthawk's 85". Just shows how huge she is compared to them! In model news I've got a little Stone Chips drafter in the works. He might be done tomorrow, a Valentine, that Daydreamer resin and an Othello, too. I'm hoping to list at least something new before the new year! Meanwhile, if anyone needs a really NICE Journeyman I got one in a trade and can't bear to repaint him! He's got really pretty dapples and awesome shading so, instead of the studio shelves, he went next to Alpine in the collection! He is totally looking for a new home though, I just put him there to keep him safe. Anyone looking for a stable mascot?! This guy's looking for you! e-mail me if he should come home to your barn! Have a great day everyone!
After much sculpting work this morning I finally have something to show for studio work this month! There's that Daydreamer who's been hanging around forever now . . . she's top on my list to complete but I've affectionately begun calling her "Pinhead" because of all the pinholes that keep slowing me down. Oh well, there's progress at least! You can see the Valentine behind her as well. Her mane's done as of this morning. I have some more facial resculpting to do yet but hopefully she'll see paint this week. Still have no idea what color she'll be but I'm feeling like she wants to go roan . . . we'll see! Something crazy happened by the barn last night . . . all 3 of the grays ate at the same pile of hay! It started with the girls eating together and the Eugene went strolling over like he was looking to throw some gas onto the fire. They managed to dine in peace and Nighthawk walked away willingly with no chasing or anything! The entire Ridge Farms family (two legged and four) would like to wish your family a
Merry, Merry Christmas! Yup . . . it happened! We got about 4 inches on Saturday by the time it was all said and done. Pretty snow, too, just graceful flakes all day long. Just enough snow for the big girl to roll around and then have a mini freak out in! The best part is that the snowy backdrop made for some great Christmas pictures on Sunday! The stockings were hung on the draft horse with care . . . I also got a considerable amount of painting done between Saturday afternoon and Sunday - it's about time that happened! In honor of the first good snow of the year I made it "snow" on some model, too! The Mirado has already been sold but Wixom and Smarty are looking for great new holiday homes! Shoot me an e-mail if it should be your home! I really like this new stablemate mold! Even though it drives my eyes crazy to paint them I want to do more!
Looking forward and counting down now to Christmas break where I plan to finish the resculpting work on that poor Daydreamer resin who's looking like a permanent resident (sorry!) a Valentine with a new mane and tail and a Wintersong who's turned around looking annoyed. It's Tuesday already - have a great rest of the week everyone! We worked the last 2 months worth of weekends as if the next day it would snow on us and now it sounds like that "next day" is coming for real. Not that we came close to getting everything we wanted to done outside but at least we can say we went down fighting! Looks like we're not getting a ton of snow but it's also not going to melt away anytime soon either. The good news is that I had a bunch of prepped horses around here that I started priming tonight and I'll have some stuff to play with tomorrow. There's an off chance I'll even get one or two of them listed this weekend- including a new Mirado SM custom!
Photos tomorrow (with any luck!) In the meantime, please check out my MH$P ads because I want to buy a new saddle . . . one that actually fits Nighthawk! So, I took a sick day on Friday because I full on lost my voice Thursday. Because I felt OK in the morning I set to work finishing up some projects from the weeks prior. I yanked out all the raspberries that wanted to live and use the Bobcat to roll and pull and drag the rocks out of the last remaining part of the paddock that needed to be redone. I was testing that whole label warning about cold medicine and operating heavy machinery . . .but everything was fine! Saturday the girl and I ran up to Tractor Supply to return some stuff and get 3 more 12 foot fence panels to finish things off. We were both feeling pretty crappy at this point and were fighting over tissues the whole way there and back! In the end it was worth it though because the horse fence in finished, the loafing shed is finished . . . it's all crossed off the list . . . done, done done! I brought a handful of cough drops and tissues out front with me and hung Christmas lights on the house this afternoon- it's kind of Griswold style!
Stuff even happened in the studio today! I started sanding off Daydreamer's mane (which quickly made me realize I was already coughing enough and didn't need extra dust). I finished a Heartbreaker who's been waiting on me for a few weeks AND I finished a Collec-tA friesian who's been hanging out here waiting for something to happen since the summer! They'll both be listed on sales pages tonight, very reasonably I might add, shoot me an e-mail if they should live at your house this holiday season! |
