After the sun went down, the studio work began. The latest Georg model has a new braided tail and he just might be ready for final prep and priming to begin tomorrow.
This wacky weather has paid off with not one but 2 rainbows in the last few days! This is the one from this weekend: and this is the one from this evening: Both were big, full bows up and over the barn! Tonight's was especially bright for the whole length. You could see where both ends touched the ground through the trees! Nora was NOT happy that I made her wait inside the fence while I took pictures but I didn't want the 4 muddy feet running through the house afterwards. I was able to walk to a spot where I could put Big Mare at the end of the rainbow! After the sun went down, the studio work began. The latest Georg model has a new braided tail and he just might be ready for final prep and priming to begin tomorrow. Once I put him (who is actually a her) up to dry, I moved onto the other little side project I've got going on- hex signs painted on the ends of wire spools!

Today we decided to do ALL the THINGS! This morning we visited Holland Ridge Farms today in Cream Ridge, NJ and saw a zillion (not even an exaggeration) tulips in bloom. This place is definitely on our list to visit every year! It was beyond gorgeous, well organized and nicely spaced out. As you can see, the new donkey custom, Priscilla, came along. Once we ate our lunch at the truck, we headed over to the Sandy Hook Gateway National Park. I brought along a bunch of plastic ponies but we were really on a mission to take photos of just one of them. It got more and more overcast as the weather rolled in from the west but we beat the rain and I got all the shots I needed. He's still not 100% done, and I didn't bring all his pieces along for fear of breakage, but I could not be more happy with the way his photos came out today! I can't wait to completely finish him and submit his shots to the contest.
We wrapped up out day with ice cream and then headed home to tend the critters. Wednesday was declared a success by all! Whoa! What a day! This guy joins his spotted buddy on Model Horse Sales Pages tonight because it hasn't stopped raining but for a half an hour ALL DAY LONG! Anyway, I'm glad to have this guy mostly done and looking for a new home. He'll be all the way done when his new owner select the color for his roses. I'm always excited to see what they pick! Now onto the next challenge- that other Georg who doesn't have any hair right now, besides his feathers. I still can't seem to decide what to do with him exactly yet. . .
I am in love with the Georg mold and I already can't wait to get more of them! This is the third one I've completed and he's going to be listed today over on Model Horse Sales Pages. He was lightly prepped and then painted in to the super flashy black leopard appy that you see here! He's the only one I've done so far that doesn't have any resculpting at all. This mold has such a sweet face that I already can't wait to go back into the studio and work on the next one I've got going right now!
It's pouring like crazy today and I've got the woodstove going since it's a nasty damp cold out there. The dogs are pretty happy about the fire! More photos later, with any luck! After seeing spots for DAYS the custom ISH is finally done! I love this guy and his custom DAH body with it's short mane and tail. He just had to be an appaloosa since the short hair makes him look so much like an old school appy! He'll be listed to MH$P tomorrow or over the weekend unless he finds a home before then. Send me an e-mail if you need him for your show stable this spring! He's one I would not hesitate to keep and show myself if I didn't already have 4 other ISHs, one of which is an appy. While it was still light out (loving these longer days!) Big Mare got a new hair do. Her mane is flipping on to the other side of her neck again after having it lose for some time now. It's in need of some retraining to lay on one side. The braids keep it nice and manageable because boy does this girl have some hair! T.G.I.F. tomorrow everyone!
Have a great end of your week! I'm all over the place with my Georg customs right now: -The first one I finished somehow never made it up onto MH$P and is sitting on my collection shelf. -The second one is already at his new home out in MI. -The third one got only prepping, no resculpting at all and is getting REALLY spotty as the days go on. -The forth one has roses all up in his new, thicker mane and forelock as of tonight. Tomorrow night, with any luck, he'll get a super thick tail also adorned with roses. He'll be ready for paintwork by the weekend! -The fifth one has no mane OR tail after this weekend's "Fun with a Grinder" session. Oh yeah, and he's now a mare . . . sort of! I already can't wait to mess with another one and I'm hoping they're in at my local Breyer haunt before I run out of bodies here. I'm just loving everything about this new mold but, chunky cuteness! Think I might be a draft horse person?! Speaking of big, chunky cuteness . . .
These two are recent completions and are looking for new homes for the spring season! The first is this new Hamilton Saddlebred in a sharp black with just enough chrome to set him off from the usual! I can't wait to see what colors his new owners select for his ribbons! This guy is one that I started right after I sold the Adios who was not so different. This is an Idocus who's got some mouthy attitude and a flashy "I wanted to be a paint horse" kind of look to him. He was sharp looking in all black but needed a little extra something to kick him up a notch-high whites and a bold, wide white face did just the trick! Couple that with one blue and one brown eye staring you down as his tongue is hanging out and you've got yourself a wacky looking horse! Last night I spotted up this guy some more. He's a factory custom ISH that had a failing paintjob. He was stripped, prepped, primed and is now turning in to a real eye catching guy who might not be leaving anytime soon! Today saw nothing happen in the studio but lots of great views along the Appalachian Trail! We hiked all the way to the thruway today and ate candy apples at the best overlook! You could see the thruway, Rt. 17 and at least 6 layers of mountains going south and east. Once home I attempted to again find my horse's actual outline underneath the yak fur of winter. Again I was unsuccessful . . . I will try again tomorrow!
