At least this time it's a dry cold since it's not going from pouring rain to below 0 in a matter of hours. That required blanketing the mares. They didn't have the good sense or the time for that matter, to dry off in between the warm rain and the flash freeze. They got blankets and liners- that has never happened! The craziest part was that within another 2 days it was 40 degrees again so off came the blankets!
I checked on the girls just before and they were eating together in the same stall and seemed all snuggly and warm. I'm not sure they'll need blankets this time and I'm crossing my fingers that they don't.
However, I *may* have just purchased them matching blankets from Schneiders the other day and they *could* be arriving tomorrow via FedEx . . .
For now, since they seem to greatly prefer to NOT be blanketed I'm going to hold off. That won't stop me from running them out buckets of warm water at night though- love my girls!
