Here's Rosie Pony! She's just been completed and all dolled up! She's not a tippy Shetland anymore because of the base her front hoof rests in/on. Send me and e-mail if Rosie should come and live in YOUR stable! I'm even offering a discount if you purchase her with Princess!

I should really stop titling the blog posts like that since I'm not even to the point where I can paint the model yet! Ugh! Still going over him with the white base coat as it's still not the opacity I want it to be. I'll keep chipping away and if I don't finish him in time, that's OK. In the meantime, "Princess" was completed: She's super cute, although she's throwing some seriously mare vibes with that look on her face! She was fun to paint either way! I love these old Mustang molds even though they're beasts to prep (she's not perfect- they never are when I do them) Her most fun feature is her swished tail with the bow in it! She came to me without a tail so I did something a little different on her. I also redid a SM and sold her: She was a bay paint that was hanging around here far too long. So I redid her in a trademark black tobiano and that did the trick! Hope her new owner is very happy with her!
More updates later if I finish the next fun thing I'm working on . . . in between painting Teddy white over, and over and OVER again! Well, thus far I'm doing an amazing job of NOT working on Teddy, my official NaMoPaiMo horse. Instead of working on him during yesterday's snowstorm, I did a bunch of sculpting work on a Shetland Pony and I painted this: Go me.
I also prepped the Gigi resin more after seeing further flaws after priming and I started to mess with a mini Gypsy Vanner model. I'm beginning to think the body box and closet may get cleared out this month but Teddy may NOT get done . . . Well, the bronchitis has kicked the crap out of me but I've been chipping away at some projects this week anyway. I finished up a pair of customs for a lovely lady who wants them as Valentine's Day gifts for her grand daughters (for next year- way to plan ahead!) I also have Teddy all primed and ready to go where ever this paint job is going to take us. I highly suspect it will involve a lot of brush painting, which is OK. Priming turned out to be quite an ordeal. There are just so darn many nooks and crannies that it was almost impossible to spray him. I found that out after priming him in brown, like I usually do to even out the colors on body models. Then, I go back and build the white or gray or whatever, over top of the solid brown. Well, THAT was not happening . . . call in the brushes instead! In between coats on Teddy I'm working on priming a few more classics to do "just for fun" paint jobs on- maybe even a St. Patrick's Day one! I've also got a classic Mustang mare in the works who kind of wants to be an appaloosa but I'm trying to just keep her a bay. Besides that, there's this Shetland who's gaining a fair amount of epoxy weight . . . busy, busy times around the studio! This was the big excitement barn side yesterday morning. It was so windy that a big piece of cardboard blew to the fence line from who knows where. Guinivere wasted not even a second grabbing it in her teeth and dragging, chewing, pawing and shredding it throughout the course of the day. Whenever she'd get bored you could watch her remember, look around and go get it! Crazy pony!
Home sick again today and I was able to sit at the desk for awhile in between coughing fits so, progress- Yay! Teddy's tail is done. I'll look at it again tomorrow when it dries just to be sure but it's pretty close at least. I also did prep work on the Gigi pony who will be my portrait of Eugene, that pony we rescued a few years ago. I've been looking for a good deal on that resin mold for awhile now (like pretty much since it came out) and I was excited to find on in the UK recently. This one was in pretty good shape but had some pinholes to fill and a few wires to cover. I touched all that up tonight since I mixed epoxy anyway. I totally over mixed and had still more epoxy after all that fun so I decided I ought to fancy up a Shetland pony some: I've gotten as far as her tail and she's got her front hoof attached to a stand. I can never get one of these ladies to balance on their own! I think she'll be cute when she's done . . . whenever that is! For now she's just my "Extra Epoxy Pony" since I always seem to have something extra. Now here's something different for Valentine's Day! This little lady sat prepped and primed on my desk for over a week begging to be painted all fancy and stuff. Finally, I caved and did this: I think she's going up on MH$P tomorrow but my daughter and I have kind of taken a liking to her so she won't go cheapy, cheap like the majority of the Valentine's Day horses. This is one that we've got a LOT of time into and she's LSQ in my opinion as well. Something a little (OK, a lot) different for someone's show string!
Home sick today with bronchitis and a double ear infection but I did manage to do a little detail work on these two on the rare moments I sat upright this afternoon. The horse on the left is going to a 5 year old girl whose name starts with a "V" so I hid a "V" and a 5 in the pattern by her shoulder. Give a nice personalized touch! I already decided to stay home tomorrow, too. Hopefully I'll get Teddy's tail all done and have him primed before the end of the week as I'd REALLY like to get started on the paintwork at some point this month! Wish me luck!
Teddy is now just days away from painting! His mane has been finished on top and on the bottom. It's fluffy but still blowing in the wind created as he trots along in the wintry weather! He also got some work done on his face this afternoon. I did his eye brows and added, as best I could, eyelashes as well. Hopefully it'll all look good when it gets painted up! His tail got some tin foil for bulk and a little epoxy for strength. Now to just complete the tail when the rest of this epoxy hardens. Good thing I've got some other projects to keep me busy in the meantime! While Teddy's epoxy was drying I played around with a stablemate sized horn and a classic sized foal. Because I was not done with the rainbow appaloosa pattern, this is the result! I'm not 100% sure I like his front and back hooves being different colors but that's just how the rainbow pattern worked out this time. I figure I'll let his new owner make the final call on that one! I just listed him on MH$P so head on over and check him out- or just shoot me an e-mail if you think he should be part of YOUR herd!
