Lastly, what better way is there to celebrate on New Year's Eve than getting a truck load of hay?!

Here's the place to find out what's on my painting table, what's happening around the farm, and what's coming up next!
Last night's sliver of a moon hanging low over the Flatbrook. Snapped this picture at a stop sign on our way to the Walpack Inn where we watched deer eating outside the window the whole time we chipped away at our Prime Rib. It's one of my favorite places to eat: http://www.thewalpackinn.com/ This lady was completed this afternoon. On to a Heartbreaker commission next! Lastly, what better way is there to celebrate on New Year's Eve than getting a truck load of hay?! Have a Safe and Happy New Year's Eve Everyone!

Rainy day painting fun . . . and the Bobby Jo is done!
I'm excited today to have just completed the resin I've been working on for what feels like a long time (but is reality was probably only a month or two!). Applause is looking for a great new home as of right now! Her ad will be put on MH$P within the hour but feel free to contact me through the website instead if you'd like to bring her home for the new year! This also arrived today: I'm indifferent to the mold and the color is . . . interesting . . . to say the least. I, of course, was hoping for a red one but now I may be able to trade for another model I've had my eyes on.
At this point I'd be happy to help someone complete their set of 3 because I already have the Flash ponies from last year's Christmas special and don't need another whole Christmas collection. In other news, this Bobby Jo is primed and ready to get some color (or black!) today! It's rainy and nasty so she'll have some progress made for sure! There is also a big sculpting (or a Re-re-re sculpting) project a friend and I started working on yesterday. Wish I'd taken "before" pictures because the "after" will be quite a change! In no particular order, here they are: 1. I got shipping notification from Breyer today so something is on it's way (waiting for the Christmas morgan and Django so I'm not sure which it is- maybe both?!) 2. Mom, girlie and I went to Medieval Times last night. Please see horse lovers' eye candy below. Eating with our hands and drooling over Andalusians and a Friesian was SO much fun! Horse: I will bow and YOU will give me a cookie! 3. Cruise and Guin made quick work on this year's gingerbread house yesterday. Cruise ate most of the blue icing and Guinivere stole the house. It must've tasted pretty delicious because neither of them noticed the apple core I threw on the tray! 4. I finally finished the Hermosa CM I've been working on and she's been listed to sales pages tonight! Go check her out! 5. Last, but certainly not least, I got an e-mail from Allison Carpenter who says that one on my CM Appies is a BIG hit on her instagram! She sent me the following really neat snow shots! Check out her Instagram for more: @red.fern.stables 6. I actually got to ride my own horse today. Despite being pretty lame in the front after about 5 minutes, that crazy Cruise wanted to canter around the paddock. He actually pulled it off for a little bit, too, because I've got a snaffle on his bridle right now and he was in barrel horse mode therefore perfectly able to ignore that bit. It's like he's forever the nutty 7 year old I got almost 20 years ago!
This interesting set is available on Breyer's website as of 9:15 Eastern Time. I'll be curious to see one in real life because they look pretty cool online! Not sure what color I'm hoping for yet . . . Pretty sure if I end up with the red I'll be looking to trade him off though. Details to follow when he arrives!
From our farm to yours, Happy Holidays to you and your family, two legged and four!
I hope everyone has a fun, fulfilling and safe season! As a special bonus, if you're looking for something to do with your holiday cash, I'm offering a 10-15% off sale on all my MHSP ads. Maybe there's something listed that you'd like? Either way, have a great weekend everyone! Lots of studio updates to come as I've got the next week off and will have plenty of painting time. There will be at least one plastic AND a resin added to the sales pages by the New Year's Eve! Stuff's actually happening and close to being done around here! This picture was taken a week ago and they look better now. The Applause resin will be a shaded, maybe slightly dappled black with some chrome for added interest. Hermosa will get many more hours of work on roaning and spots but she'll be cool when she's finally done! I also was fortunate enough to add a long awaited new herd member. Even though it seems like I've been doing a lot of that lately (it's an affliction, really) This time, I got a horse that I've waited 7 long years for. Good thing I'm patient I guess! Presenting my new Del Mar from Bailey Harris! She's NAN'd in Collectibility already! I can't wait to show her myself one of these days. The following models are waiting in the wings for something to be done with them. Let me know if any of them are of interest to you . . .
ISH will be getting a new mane and tail but I haven't decided what they'll look like yet. I cut his tail short so we'll see how it ends up I guess! Big weekend with big holiday decor and activities. First, we got the fattest, most bizarre tree . . . After the tree was set up and decorated and before the snow began to fall, everyone got their Christmas On when they dressed for the season (and the Christmas cards that I have to print one of these days!) Yes, those are bows on chickens and yes, I'm fully aware of the fact that I'm no right in the head! Cruise and Guin got in on the action, too! The difference is they're well rehearsed and they LIKE it! In studio news, there are 3 more models heading to new homes this week: CM Cigar as a pintaloosa, and ornament and the Dozer resin. Applause and Hermosa are getting new looks this week! Check back for photos as the week (and their paint work) progresses. Have a great week!
Received some really GREAT pictures from my buddy Emily out in Michigan the other day! Her Ridge Farms show team did really well a their lates show and she sent pictures of the horses and their winnings. Check them out on the homepage!
I finally got to do some more painting this afternoon when I got home from work, which I was also absent from for the last 2 days! My voice is mostly back but the coughing and sneezing have yet to go away- I just won't work on the resins anytime soon I guess! Mamacita- being painted as a grey/black leopard appaloosa- on the table now Traditional Shetland- prepped awaiting paint for Cindy Stablemate Shetland-prepped awaiting paint for Cindy Stablemate Scampering Foal on base- prepped awaiting paint for Cindy PS Chips Arab- completed, being sealed for Cindy Applause resin- basecoated, awaiting further decisions on my part! Nakota- awaiting a new mane/tail for Olivia, prepped otherwise Hackney- awaiting sculpting work to smooth out some lumpys on his spikey tail ISH- Awaiting more sculpting work after I decide what the heck I'm doing to him Donkey- awaiting prep work- currently serving as our holiday ambassador with a red ribbon around his neck on top of the stereo! Moxie resin- looking adorable but otherwise doing nothing, unprepped on my shelf! Looking forward to a nice, relaxing weekend in the studio 'cause it is COLD outside! I was home sick today after loosing my voice last night (can't really teach without a voice) when, THIS happened . . . I really wanted to be excited and to have that "model horse love at first sight" feeling but it just wasn't there. He's got an ad on the sales pages as a result of that underwhelming reaction. Hopefully someone who didn't get to order him can take him home for the holidays at a good deal and be more pleased with him. In actual Studio News: This guy was completed tonight and I like him much, much more! He was a POA but I tucked his head, resculpted his upper lip, gave him a new mane, notched his heels and swished his tail so he's looking a little different now. I pictured him as someone's Christmas pony: grade, paint with and attitude but destined to be loved regardless! He may or may not be offered as a sales piece. Drop me a line if he should be YOUR Christmas pony! I had to take tomorrow off, too, since it's nine o'clock at night and my voice hasn't even remotely improved. The only good news is that in between sipping large quantities of tea and hot honey water, I'll be painting a Hermosa and an Applause resin, maybe prepping a Moxie, too. Looking forward to that but I pretty much can't wait to get my voice back and get myself back to work on Friday! |
