She splashed around for awhile before we got pictures taken. Then we went for a ride up Laurel Pond trail (I think it was that one) and then I pulled her tack and let her really go nuts in the water. That's the first picture up there. . . she splashed like crazy with both front feet for a few minutes and eventually plopped right down and rolled in the lake. She's such a happy goof ball! We spent the rest of the day cleaning the horse, cleaning the tack, picking up the turnout and reinstating Grassland- the girls were VERY happy about that! |
So, I finished another horse and listed him last night. He's a just for fun sugar skull Halloween little guy. He's been listed on eBay and he'll have a friend behind him shortly (with any luck!) I'm working on a clydesdale mare and a Smarty Jones to complete the Halloween line up for this year! This morning we headed to Waywayonda State Park before the Warwick, NY traffic got bad and we rode around for a few hours. It was pretty much the perfect fall day. Casey even got to go into the lake which she LOVES to do! I also listed 2 brow bands last night. One is regular horse sized in beautiful chocolate leather with red crystals and the other is over sized black leather one with various shades of teal beads. They're both super pretty and looking for a home where they'll get used! I originally made the red one for Guin but clearly it's too big for her! Oh well! Shoot me and e-mail if you think you'd like one of these, or a custom one, because I just keep making them and can't keep 'em all!

What could be better?! Today was the 104th Annual Orange County Volunteer Fire parade and it was amazing. We mostly decided to attend, not for the fire trucks but for these guys: As if these guys weren't enough, there were countless engines, rescues, tankers, bands, chief trucks, pumpers, and marchers to hold our attention! There was even a tiller from somewhere north AND a former Warwick truck that was also a former truck in Maine! We stayed far longer then we thought we would but loved every minute of it! There was a local ride that a bunch of headed up to this morning and it was wonderful! Another great job by Quiet Creek Stable in Vernon, NJ! Big mare wore her new beaded browband with the fox pad and orange half pad so she was totally fall matchy, matchy. The only problem was that the fox pad (which I got cheap on consignment) seems to have dyed her a light shade of purple! That was a little bit of a surprise but she did sweat a LOT! Oh well, because of that she got a bath and rub down when we got home . . . and after Nora helped me clean out, park and unhook the trailer. Such a good helper! It's always so cool to get the girls wet and see their markings show up again. I couldn't imagine this big horse if she wasn't dappling out. She'd still be super flashy! I finished a bunch more browbands this week while taking the kid to karate class. We've now got a red wave one for Guin, a blue straight black one, a wave clear/rainbow, and the fall cream/orange/black one for big mare. There were more good deals on eBay so I may have ordered 5 more . . . let me know if anyone needs one! They'd make really nice gifts for the holidays (trainer? bard buddy?) I can't possibly bead all these for myself- could I?!
Have a great week everyone! I honestly though we were going to miss it this year but, on the very last day they were open, we made it to the Sussex County Sunflower Maze and it was well worth it! Everything bloomed late this year because of the wet spring and the flowers were no different. The kid woke me up bright and early Sunday morning and we took off with the dog for a little adventure. I also came home with more than a dozen ears of corn- the best corn anywhere! The sunflower maze is my happy place! I've had some crazy days at school last week and this week (so far! and it's ONLY Tuesday- OMGoodness!) Anyway, that's equated to some late nights in the barn shoveling and trying to find my sanity . . . I think it's working! It totally throws the girls off when I'm out there in the dark. They immediately go into Stage 4 Clinger Mode, stop eating and follow me around. Cracks me up! I haven't gotten the chance to finish any more models in the last few weeks on account of I have to work for a living but a few seem to be selling tonight which will free up some space for more CM's in the coming weeks. I've still got that primed Clydesdale mare waiting for inspiration- got any? Besides whipping up a TON of crocheted flowers, I got it in my head that I wanted a fancy browband for Casey. After watching a 15 minute video online I decided I was qualified to make my own. I bought some blanks from a tack store that's selling off stock on eBay (e-mail me if you want the user name- REALLY good deals!) Saturday night I ran to JoAnn's and grabbed some beads. By Sunday night I had this: So, I did the top one on Sunday. It's hard to tell that it's shades of cream, black and orange. Because everyone needs a Fall colored browband, right?! We do have 2-3 different rides coming up in the next 2 months so I figured I ought to be prepared!
Today while I sat at karate with the kid, I stitched the bottom one together. These are easy enough to travel with so I just chuck the beads, browband, scissors, pliers and a needle in my canvas bag and hit the road. The picture didn't look this dark when I took it but the big beads are clear and the smaller ones are gold toned with rainbow beads encircling them. Subtle but pretty! Not sure when I'm going to use this one! I'm currently resisting temptation to buy another 5 empty channel browbands . . . hold me back! Yup, I finished 3 things today! It rained for most of the morning which was annoying (it was predicted to start in the afternoon and I wanted to get some stuff done) but it worked out in the end. This is a very feral looking Idocus- I really like the way he came out and I hope he goes to a show home! His mane is my favorite part. It's always so much fun to see what a difference a hair do makes! Speaking of hair dos- here's a little something else I have been working on for what seems like far too long! This little driving SM was dying for some new clothes and she ended up with a fancy, flowy mane in the process as well. And here's my favorite new model and, funny enough, the one that took the LEAST amount of time to complete: Croi Damsha/Vanilla Banks as a paintover black leopard appaloosa! Photos don't really do her justice- she's way flashier in real life and I'm very pleased with the way the spotting pattern came out on this one. I'm planning on starting a Catch Me CM in a similar style- In my "free" time- Ha. Ha! When the weather cleared up I lunged the big mare for about 20 minutes in my continuing effort to get the girl in shape (round doesn't count as a shape!) She was super spunky even offering a canter for a few strides which was fun to watch, even if it was partially iin a tantrum!
Guinivere got the afternoon off today and got brushed and spoiled by the kid because she's having some sort of reaction to the fly bites again. It seems to come and go depending on who's biting. Luckily, it goes so quickly that I'm not terribly concerned. She got her fly blanket and boots and a heaping helping of OutSmart spray from Smart Pak. That stuff is great! The flies were horrendous for both the girls so we cut things a little bit short and everyone got to retreat into their respective buildings! Back to work tomorrow, meetings for 2 days actually, but I'm excited to meet my new class on Thursday! Hopefully I'll have time to finish the Catch Me model and list that soon, too! Have a great week everyone! Here's hoping your summer was a success! |
