Here's the place to find out what's on my painting table, what's happening around the farm, and what's coming up next!
This weekend I finally got time to finish up a few roany boys that have been hanging around for awhile. This first used to be an Ethereal before he was hacked to crap and put back together mostly with hot glue and tin foil. A buddy of mine really liked him so we decided to finish him off best we could. That involved rebreaking every . . . single . . . joint, digging out hot glue, tin foil and epoxy for several hours and then re doing everything. He got a new mane, the tail off the ISH that's pictured next, a half a pound of epoxy, two new ears and a WHOLE LOTTA sanding. He's still not perfect (not without like 20 more hours of work) but he's pretty handsome as is! I'll have to get the before pictures from my buddy so you can see just what we were dealing with at the beginning. We've got a jumper to work on next . . . that one won't be for awhile though! The next roany guy that saw his completion date this weekend is this ISH: The next two are my projects for Braymere Saddlery's National Model Painting Month. Showtime will be a black frame overo paint horse to replace the Phoenix I just trades for another ISH (details to follow on THAT situation tomorrow) and Laredo will be an appaloosa, most likely.

We originally had a delayed opening this morning but it quickly turned into our first snow day as the weather continued to deteriorate. It never got really bad. I ran down to my mother in laws for some boxes and later on went to the firehouse for a call and then continued onto the post office. In between the wind gusts, rain, sleet and now snow, I was able to whip this guy up and list him on sales pages. Here's a cute little Junco birdie hanging out in the brush during the afternoon and some ice covered branches from first thing this morning. Neither bothered the cat at all!
Well, apparently that Indian Pony CM wasn't too early for Valentine's Day because she sold in a matter of moments yesterday! She's off to her new home today because I ran out to the post office right before we started getting rained on by this Nor'Easter!
It'd just be awful to not have another Valentine's Day horse to take her place on line so . . . Good thing I've been working on this pretty lady and she was ready to hit eBay tonight: Hope she isn't too early: This sweet appy Indian Pony mare has just been listed to eBay with hopes that she'll find a fast Valentine's Day home!
She was a fun, quick project for this rainy, gross day before a Nor'Easter and I hope she brightens someone's February. Go check her out! She's done! She's done! She's currently listed on the Sales pages to see if someone who can show her more frequently than me can give her a home. I'm more than happy to hang onto the little gal and show her once a year if that doesn't occur! I also decided to experiment and expand my performance repertoire with a base for natural trail classes. I already had the wood, felt and some moss so I just bought a box of random other mosses and glued them all down. I'm happy with how it came out. The palouse seems to like it, too! We'll see how it does at the shows in the spring! Now I'm off to mess around with some Valentine's Day horses . . . tis the season already!
I got the craziest egg the other day when I went out to collect them from the girls . . . it was huge! We laid it along side a tape measure and it was a good 3 inches from top to bottom (end to end?) whatever! I felt bad for the chicken. After taking some pictures and sending them to our fellow chicken owning friends, the next logical thing to do was plan how to eat it! I don't really eat eggs so it was my husband who would crack it open Saturday morning: Yes, I was hanging over his breakfast frying pan to snap a picture of the double yokes right before he busted them open with the spatula! Our first double yoker! In other news (ha, as if that was news!) I finished the Phoenix resin tonight! She's just been listed to the sales pages and is looking for a great new home! I was painting her as my next performance horse (like I need another one of those!) but then I got a super good deal on a Showtime resin so this pretty girl got bumped!
The Moxie resin is also getting some love tonight so hopefully she'll be listed soon, too. No worries of they don't sell because I'll look forward to showing them at Pocono Ponies this year in May! Holy Appaloosas, Batman! I painted like crazy today since we had the day off. Here's what actually ended up being finished. So clearly I just felt like playing around with spray cans and spots today and these two are the result of that! Both of them have been listed to eBay since I have a serious storage issue in the studio right now and just want to see a bunch find new homes quickly!
On another note, if you are one of the people who actually read my blog: First of all, thank you lots! Secondly, I have recently come into a large amount of traditional models, most NIB, so if there is something you've been looking for and want a pretty good deal, shoot me an e-mail and I'll see if I've got what you're on the hunt for! Have a great rest of the week everyone! This guy finally got done! I think I told Olivia I'd work on him in October, which I did, but NOW he's finally done (as long as she likes him!). He began as a Nokota and he got his mane and tail removed, his feathering shaved, a new mane and tail added (tack friendly) and a flashy appy paint job. Check him out! O.K. That's it! Nothing else is happening this weekend! I'm going outside to turn out the lights out on the chicken coop now and then I'm going to sit on the couch for an hour or so!
Have a great week everyone! I came into some great Breyer deals this weekend and was able to snag myself a cute Connemara mare . . . and then I painted her black and white. to paint this color! The mapping is fun, too!
She's going on MH$P tonight and probably on to eBay tomorrow. Go check her out if you think she'd look good in your stable! Yesterday it snowed pretty much all day. The storm was supposed to skate south of us but instead it was snowing like crazy most of the afternoon. Turned out that we only got an inch of snow which was pretty nice considering the lovely view of it falling that we had all day! The funky weather outside meant that I got to work inside for awhile. Here's the first model completed this weekend: Black Marchador for Karyn with badger face markings. I tucked his head slightly, added to his mane and forelock and gave him a slightly floppy lower lip. He'll be going to his new home at the end of the week!
