Here's the place to find out what's on my painting table, what's happening around the farm, and what's coming up next!
2017 has, in no uncertain terms, sucked for our family but there are still so many things to be thankful for. Here's the short list: -Crazy 6 year olds -Monkey Bars -Chickens (especially the ones that lay blue eggs!) Colorful Sunsets That leave us with striking full moons Bonfires and Rock walls (even if I have to rebuild them) Horses to paint And the ones that are already painted like old friends German Shepherd dogs and late season butterflies I could go on all night but I'll spare you so the pre Black Friday shopping can begin . . .
Happy Thanksgiving!

The studio has been quiet lately as we try to eek out the last few good weekends of the year before the snow comes. . . listen to be being so ominous- it's New Jersey, not Alaska! Anyways, I've been prepping a Heartbreaker model on a custom little base that I hope to have listed in the next week or so AND I just listed my St. Moritz model. As excited as I was to get him, it quickly faded when I put him up against the green walls in the room my models are displayed in. He's pretty but not "I love him" pretty. Someone else will love him! As for the real horses in the backyard, last weekend we had auger issues when we tried to re do the fencing on the property. This weekend the hubby had those problems worked out and we kicked butt! We got all the new posts around the entire place dug and set and the fencing redone on the upper half of the turnout. A successful weekend indeed! And that was with me gone today with Eugene who was gracious enough to pose for holiday photos at the local feed store. He was a real good sport throughout the whole thing. There were some really cute dogs (2 cats also!) and some really cute kids but there were also so really out of control dogs, too. He stood like a statue . . . well, like a hay eating statue . . . the whole time. I'll have pictures of that later on! In the meantime, here's one of the whole herd early in the morning. They are assuming the position at the gate but seem a little confused by the presence of the second gate! We also had some really neat foggy days that found me outside with the camera. Here are some results of that! Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
Things have been busy around here lately . . . can that explain the lack of posts?! Anyway, on account of my new REALLY BIG HORSE, we've started re fencing the turnout. Last Saturday we were supposed to be able to auger out the post hole and set the posts- that didn't happen. We got 4 holes dug before a hydraulic line got pinched and blew. We did set the 4 posts and hung a new gate between 2 of them, split the stalls and got to spend some quality time with the horses. So, we'll try again on that fence next weekend! I just found this e-mail waiting for me in my inbox when I fired up the old desktop this afternoon: This was a fun surprise and I'm super excited to get him! He'll look great next to Alpine! I was due to win one of these eventually . . . I liked the mare and foal set, I really liked the Nokota Java but none came my way. I'm just hoping I like this guy as much in person as I do online *fingers crossed*
In stable news, everyone is getting along better but still not perfectly well. It hasn't even been a month so we're just giving it time. We seem to be able to take Eugene off the property without Guinivere losing her mind. He and I will be at Pequannock Feed in W. Milford this Sunday posing for pictures with Santa and a sleigh! He wasn't super thrilled when we did a mock set up on Thursday but we're just going to let him hang out with hay in front of him so I think he'll be fine! October went quick! We finished up the month doing a Trunk or Treat in town. Most people brought their SUV's and sedans . . . we brought a firetruck! Me and the guys ended up giving out about 500 pieces of candy in 3 hours and we had a blast! We're already cooking up ideas for next year! My buddy, Yvonda, went to her first show last weekend at Great Lakes Congress and did quite well for herself winning the big title with my CM Wintersong she named Char Do Neigh. Check out her gorgeous Eagle themed saddle set! Things have been otherwise relatively quiet on the model horse front lately mostly because things have NOT been quiet on the real horse front! Nighthawke has been settling in nicely but the ponies are still giving her a hard time. I'm comparing them to the flying monkeys from the Wizard of Oz! We'll be doing some fence work over the next couple of weeks before the frost. It is clear that having a very large horse is going to require some changes around here but that's OK. She's so sweet, it's totally worth it! I've had a little bit of time on a rainy afternoon to mess with a couple of models: -a Wintersong I've decided to make turning his head waaaaaay around, he'll have pinned back ears, too, i think -a Giselle with new mane and tail -a Heartbreaker mounted on a small base because I can't stand how tippy they are! -a Daydreamer resin who is getting closer and closer to paint every day (even if I only spend 10 minutes sanding her!) I'll leave you with this lovely fall picture I snapped up at the Rudy's farm in Warwick, NY when I got hay last Thursday. I love the view from up there!
