She's finally done! I've shaded her nose since these pictures were taken so it's more realistic now. My husband said she should be names Skittle and my daughter said Sparkles so . . . meet Skittle Sparkles: In other stable news, I'm working on a Wyatt CM to a flashy appaloosa and I've worked out and exciting trade with a fellow hobbiest. My buddy, Emily, is trading me back my CM Wintersong in black sabino for the CM resculpted Cleveland bay that Karen Dietrich painted for me. I'm super excited to get Tall, Dark and Handsome back and show him in a few performance classes! Should be an adventure!

After a super busy week I finally got time today to tie up all the loose ends on several projects around here! First of all, I did a cake for my buddys' son's christening. It was double layers of chocolate with cannoli filling (a first for me). It got rave reviews at the party! Steve's Marchador turned tiger horse is ready to go south, Cindy's mini's are finished and awaiting approval and my miniature donkey is an hour away from completion as well! Can't wait to share the donkey pictures tomorrow. She's a piece done in acrylics and pastels that had been in the process for weeks just waiting for the finishing touches. This afternoon it started raining as soon as I returned home from taking care of the pony at Ridge Farms South so I had more painting time and started on a Wyatt CM who is bound to be an appaloosa . . . a super flashy one, too! She began as a Baby Flo model who did NOT fit into her base at all. That was nothing some boiling water couldn't fix up though. She's securely in there now! Something else fun that I managed to squeeze is during the week was laminating some of my show reference materials. I works out well that there's a UPS store nearby that'll let me lay the paperwork out myself. The lamination is beautiful! Might even give the impression I know what the heck I'm doing when I show next time! Last week was quite productive thanks to the snow! Painting was a fun, low-key activity after doing a LOT of shoveling! I was able to get a good start on the Marchador that's becoming a tiger horse and finish my Yummi resin. I'm stupid excited about how she came out- ask my husband- I've been driving him nuts! I'm also packing up a donation to the Pocono Ponies Live! raffle that benefits Our Mims Retirement home in KY. A fellow shower and I are donating a few items to help raise money for this worthwhile group who's doing so much good! One more reason that I'm crazy . . . I found this little girl online last week and pretty much had to have her! She's, Jordan, 1/15 made is 2012. Off to the post office!
Have a great weekend everyone! It's Winter, I'm back!
This humorous scene caught my eye after a hour of shoveling snow this morning. My garden flag is about to disappear under the snow bank but the winds are whipping is around so it keeps breaking free. The horses are snuggled up in the barn and not even looking out through the doors like usual. They ran out briefly this morning but I haven't seen them since! The studio is hopping today despite the rough weather outside. The Marchador is getting some white markings, Yummi is getting her chocolate brown base coat (finally picked a color for her!). There's a stablemate getting primed white and a sicilian donkey getting some color, too. I'm alternating shoveling and painting today trying to keep up with the snow. Winter Storm Stella is on her way promising heavy snow (some reports say my area will get 2 feet) damaging winds and freezing temperatures. We spend the last 2 days preparing the house, the barn, the chickens and the horses for the onslaught of snow and wind. The barns, here and at Ridge Farms South, are sealed up tight. Hay is stacked up, firewood is stacked, troughs are filled and Cruise and Mickey's blankets are on. They all got extra hay tonight and thickly bedded down stalls to keep them snugly and warm throughout the storm which is expected to hit at or about midnight.
The good news is that, with the schools closed tomorrow, the studio will be Open! I've got work to do on the Marchador going tiger horse, a few SM's and that Yummi resin I keep threatening to paint. I've also got to build a breast collar and bridle set to match the black saddle I finished a few weeks ago as the set I had planned on using for it is just a hair too big. So, as long as the power doesn't go out tomorrow- there should be updates from the studio! Everyone stay safe and warm! A few days ago, it seemed like spring was so close! I was ready to start taking pictures of models out doors, hyacinth bulbs were sprouting, crocus were blooming, Cruise and my rescue pony each had their blankets off for a few days. Then this happened: Guinivere met me at the tack room door with snowflakes on her eye lashes! It was only 3-4 inches of snow total by the afternoon but the timing was enough to cancel school yesterday and use up our 3rd snow day. The bad part is, there's supposed to be another storm, possibly a significant one, coming up the coast for Tuesday. We'll have to see how that goes I guess.
The good news is, I've had plenty of time to work in the studio! I have a Marchador commission in the works as well as a CM Sicilian Donkey that may be offered for sale. The Yummi resin will be primed today if the temperature in the garage is far enough above freezing. I'm excited to start painting her although I haven't quite decided on a color as of yet . . . pictures of the other ones to follow later tonight, I hope! Wishing everyone a beautiful weekend! OK, here's the last one for this weekend: He's just been listed to eBay with a darn reasonable starting bid. Go check him out and have a great week! We're pretty busy this week so I may not get any updates from the studio out 'til next weekend.
I'm happy to report that 2 more models were completed this week. One just moments ago! Here's Django, who is looking for a great new home: I just put his ad up on the sales pages so shoot me an e-mail if you're interested! My Showtime Resin has gotten her final layers of matte sealer and she's been put in her new spot atop the computer desk! "Lightning Does the Work" is patiently waiting for her live show debut as a halter horse in May at Pocono Ponies. I excited to see how she does! This model was painted to replace the Phoenix resin I had originally painted for my self but ended up trading for the "Sun Prairie" ISH model. No regrets there!
Showtime will not get an ad on the sales pages but she does fall under the "everything is for sale for the right price," clause of my collection . . . e-mail me if ever you wanna talk about her. In the meantime, she'll be part of Show Team Ridge Farms! It's too cold to play outside so I'm off to work on a Donkey, the Yummi Resin and an Adios model who wanted some new clothes. Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! I've decided to list this guy for sale online this weekend. He's part of my effort to raise a little extra dough for the care and rehabilitation of the pony. He's doing really well but will need dental work soon and I'm trying to plan ahead. Anyway, this guy has been resculpted by me and painted by Karen Dietrich to a beautiful bay. He's got pink roses in his hair and he's ready to get and and be seen! In addition to several new models I've also listed these two tack sets. The purple and light leather one is by me and the other super cool black and blue set it by Olivia Leviton. I'd love to see them go to a home where they'll get used!
