Yesterday, a box arrived . . . and inside was . . . Holly! He's a handsome guy and will be going right onto the collection shelves. The only minor issue I noticed yesterday was that, like a lot of Flash models, he had an uncomfortable lean to his left. I guess it was really me who it made uncomfortable so I made him a base to rest his hind hoof on. It balances him better so I don't have to worry needlessly about him being the start of a massive domino disaster on the shelves! Naturally, I couldn't just leave the base plain so, while it was still wet but after I'd made the hoof impression, I added some holly leaves and berries. Gives it that special little touch I think! If anyone else needs a base for their Holly or Ivy I'd be happy to whip you up one! Also, if anyone has an Ivy that they're not TOTALLY in love with, I'm looking to add him to my collection as well. He, apparently, is the one my daughter was hoping to get!

Moxie had a rough week . . .
First, she was prepped which made her feel like she was drowning Next, she got scrubbed and scraped just able every which way Then, she got roughed up some more with Ajax cleanser After that, she was rewarded with several coat of primer Just when she thought her rough week was over, a CM Wintersong chased her clear across the painting table! She hid behind the Christmas cactus. Don't worry, she's fine and will be getting some "color" tomorrow! Hope your holiday week was a little less stressful than Moxie's! Have a great night! Merry Christmas to all my online friends and loyal customers! Here's hoping your holiday season is merry and bright! From our stable to yours, from the plastic ponies to the big, expensive, breathing "models" out in the backyard we hope that Santa brought you everything you asked for . . . if you were good, that is! I'm hoping to get a good amount of studio time in this week while I'm off. I promise that I'll be hitting the paintbrushes right after I've come in off the water each day that it remains over 60 degrees! Some people here in New Jersey are wishing we had a white Christmas but I'm more than happy to give the new tandem kayak a whirl on Christmas morning instead! My daughter wouldn't come with me for it's maiden voyage but Brenna was more than happy to jump in and go for a ride! Now we're off to see family and friends for a little while. Have a wonderful day everyone!
Sounds ominous but really it's awesome! I got a super fun box in the mail today chock full of pretty horses to work on! The Pegasus is Sylph, the little stocky warmblood guy is Patrick (any color ideas for him?!) and we, of course, recognize Moxie! I have a plan for 2/3 of them and can't wait to get started! Merry Christmas to all in case I don't get back on here to "say" it prior to the big day! We're hosting Christmas Eve so there's much work to be done (translation: time for some cleaning in my Shepherd hair and glitter filled house)
Have a wonderful holiday everyone! That's an exaggeration, perhaps, but today was pretty productive. First of all this guy was finally primed and is now ready for paint. Any color ideas? I kind of want to do a tobiano in either black (shocker!) bay or bay roan. Secondly, this guy is nearing completion as well since he only has some fine detailing and hoof work left before he's ready to be tacked up and taken out! Not sure if he'll be for sale because he's kind of "speaking" to me and, what the heck, I go to about one show per year so why shouldn't I hang onto this hunk?! Crazy, I know! Looks kind of like a train is barreling down on you doesn't it? I'm still looking for a name for him. Felt like "Running with Scissors" but I had another horse like that and he went to the UK but I'm not sure if she kept the same name or not.
Any suggestions? I've got a whole slew of horses listed on MH$P as of tonight! I decided to put up some of my personal OF's including a new and really nice Elska (she just never really "spoke" to me and is far too nice a model to CM) and my Hermosa. I'm thinking of adding a few more CM models to my collection and am thinking of freeing up some shelf space in advance.
That being said, one of the models I'm about to complete is a pretty awesome CM Wyatt. He's becoming a black frame overo as we speak and I've already decided that he's going to stay here for awhile! I'll upload some pictures when his eyes have been painted because unpainted eyes creep me out! I'll leave you with this cool fog shot from yesterday late afternoon. As my daughter and I cleaned up by the horses the fog was so think that I could barely see the house. The bare winter trees look amazing in the fog. Here is one of the better pictures. Here are the two latest models that got a zillion coats of sealer this week in the beautiful December weather (that's not even sarcasm, it's been pushing 60 degrees this week with no signs of cooling down). So much for a white Christmas! I tell you what though, when I can walk out to feel the horses in crocs and a skirt at 7 in the morning with nothing but a fleecey North Face for a jacket I'm totally OK with that!
Check these spotty bodies out on MH$P as they each have an ad. I'll be wrapping up a Wyatt sometime this weekend or early next week. I'm pretty excited about him but my studio time is limited because my fire company is taking Santa Claus himself around town tomorrow on the trucks for meet and greets! Have a great weekend! |
