After a few months' absence, our turkeys came trotting on through today! This guy was over in the neighbors' brush line jumping for berries! Also, we didn't have to travel until later this afternoon so I was able to complete the Andalusian to red bay appy that I've been working on for what seems like forever! He's just been listed to model horse sales pages tonight!

Happy Thanksgiving from our family . . . to yours!
We got a snowy suprise last Sunday and it turned out to be the most Perfect snowman making snow. Here's our snowman family, husband, girl, me and the snow Shepherd, too. In other news, all my ads on the sales pages are at least 10% off so let me know if there is someone itching to join your stable this holiday season! These four have just been listed to the sales pages with 3 different ways to purchase (one of those ways you get 'em for FREE!) Check out their ad!
http://www.modelhorsesalespages.com/view.asp?id=1256976&p=g Last night I was the only one awake (because I was watching Bad Moms!) when the freezing rain began pelting the metal roof sometime after 11. It was wind driven and loud but I fell asleep and stayed that way until 4:14 exactly when the top half of a maple tree snapped off and rolled across the roof above our heads. My daughter woke up and thought it was fireworks- that would've been so much cooler! So far it appears as though we dodged a bullet and there was no significant damage but the hubby's going to put up a ladder when the sun melts the snow some this afternoon just to make sure the branched didn't punch any holes. Otherwise the snow is lovely and makes for some really pretty views! Of course Cruise looks exceedingly handsome with any backdrop but this one has Christmas Card written all over it! We picked up our chickens yesterday and they must think we've moved them to the arctic! They're hanging out inside this morning!
In studio news, I worked on the andalusian/tiger horse bay blanket appy last night and I'm cooking up some little holiday surprises right now. Cold and windy days mean painting time! So I've been pretty involved all week preparing a slide show presentation for our school's 50th anniversary and I wasn't even expecting packages to start arriving until Friday. I'm not even a little bit embarrassed to say that I sort of drowned my sorrows with some online shopping last week. I figured it was either that or I was going to consume A LOT of chocolate in a short period of time. This is so much better! Anyway, I'm now beginning to see exactly what I did . . . To be fair, the doll and saddle have been here for a few months but apparently she has been waiting this whole time for THIS palouse. She's a DAH from 2013, I think, and I've named her "Comes the Dawn." You'll also notice Retail Therapy Phase II in the form of Jana SKybova saddle pad and fly bonnet set the Palouse is wearing. I kinda of always wanted one of her sets and when the Patriot set popped up in the gallery right in front of my eyes I simply could not resist! Besides, our firefighter that past last week was a veteran so it tied in nicely. I'll have him, and all our troops, in mind when I look at it. Retain Therapy Phase III is due to arrive on Friday. It's not model horse related though. That's the best we could do with the super moon. It's been cloudy the last few nights and I was bummed we couldn't see it clearly. Sunday night, as my friend's barn, it rose like a pumpkin and was mesmerizingly awesome. Since then it's been out of sight.
Here's what I've been chipping away on during the rainy few days. Don't mind him, he's still kind of in the Ugly Stage . . . So last night I couldn't sleep so I decided to work on the EO Cruise Control portrait resin model (which, strangely enough is done on the revamped "Flint" resin) He needed a new paintjob on his mane and tail, I messed with his eyes, redid his hooves and added his socks in the back. Most of the time I sat out on the side of the fence and added markings and pencil roaning. Cruise and his pony supervised the process closely. That was fun! Overall I'm very pleased with the way he came out and I'm more pleased with the fact that he's DONE! I've had Cruise for 19 years as of next month and I'm glad that now I'll have him forever in model form. Next he needs a red "nylon" halter . . . Tonight I've begun working on a Moody Andalusian that's destined (as so many are) to be an appaloosa patterned tiger horse. He's bay with lightning markings on his legs and he's got a cool blaze face. Now for some hair by hair roaning and an appy blanket . . .
Today we said our final farewells to our fellow firefighter, neighbor and friend Fred Stewart. There is nothing else in the world like hearing that "last alarm" pierce the air. Once in a lifetime is too often. Today, our fire department, with the help of the P.D., and all the mutual aid companies, did Freddy proud. Read about Freddy here:
https://www.firerescue1.com/volunteer/articles/141923018-LODD-NJ-volunteer-firefighter-dies-during-maintenance-duty/ After taking down the old shed: And building quite literally from the ground up: We're now VERY close to being able to move a flock into the new home! In studio news, I've listed a few models on eBay only to have them sell pretty quickly but one CM Emma pony is still up there.
I've also decided to plant my Cruise Control/Flint resin on the painting table and not do anything else 'til he's done and on my shelf . . . it's been a week and nothings happened! Hopefully this weekend I'll get to put on his finishing touches, glue a base on his hoof, and call him done. I've got an Applause and a Moxie resin waiting for some love and I'm excited to mess with them! |
I'd like to leave this world just a little bit more beautiful than I found it... Archives
