Pictures later tonight hopefully!
Enjoy Breyerfest and make sure to stay cool!

Here's the place to find out what's on my painting table, what's happening around the farm, and what's coming up next!
Instead of plastic horses, this weekend I'm spending money on truck loads of stone dust for in the horses paddock. By the time we're done spreading it all out- it should be almost like a real riding ring in there! Meanwhile, the dog thinks it's her mountain and Cruise likes to dig in it. I was trying to discourage him from actually climbing the pile because I KNOW he wanted to! In studio news, the Carrick CM is going bay today with pastels and the Bouncer pony I started on a whim will be getting spotted some more (and he's NOT a black leopard appaloosa- aren't you all proud of me!)

Well, I'm not going to Breyerfest this year but stuff's still happening here! The Smarty Jones custom and a few OF's took off toward their new homes this afternoon. I also have just about finished the loose mane and tail jumping pony (but forgot to take a picture of him!) I did get a picture of Carrick, or Travis's new mane. Check it out! I also thickened his tail tonight. There's also something happening to this hackney pony . . . He's what I do when I have a smidge of epoxy left over. I just throw on another spike. I think he needs wings, too! In the background are two unsuspecting Cleveland Bays that will turn into a match set of Haflinger types. I'm excited to tweek them and make a nice team for my friend to paint! Meanwhile, in the garden . . . This little guy flew into the sunroom window the other day and gave himself quite a headache. We found him when the dog went nuts (she never runs in my garden, I'd like to thing she knows better!) Anyway, we picked the little birdie up and put him underneath the burning bush in the backyard fairy garden. He took a good 10 minutes to get his bearing before flying off into the forest. It was really great for my daughter and I to see him take off looking good as new!
The following is an amazing new saddle just finished by Yvonda Robinett of Shunka Wakan Studios . . . behold, the Eagle Saddle! It will be on display with a friend of hers at Breyerfest next weekend so keep an eye out for it while you're shopping around. There will also be 2 other saddles by her there that are very much for sale and very highly recommended by me. Yvonda's work is out of this world and she's a great lady, too! I've got saddles by several hobby artists and hers really stands out. It even got that standing ISH to place in a performance class! Just check out the detail work . . . My favorite picture is the one below, where you can see that it's Char Do Neigh, my big Shire custom, modeling this jaw- dropping set! If you're interested in doing business with Yvonda contact her at:
[email protected] I personally can't wait to add another piece of her artwork to my collection- we're cooking up a project right now as a matter of fact! Cruise and the pony are now Fortresses Against Flies! That's all thanks to the sheet that I ordered from Barnard's Saddlery for Guin and the sheet I won for Cruise at their open house last Saturday. In other news, hopefully I'll have some more re sculpting from the studio to share later! There's a Clydesdale mare and a Newsworthy both getting mighty hairy, but in a good way!
Remarkably, this is the first bear we've seen so far this year. Brenna definitely smelled one outside a few weeks ago but we didn't actually see it (although I totally trust her nose!) This guy was nibbling the birdseed I put out for the turkeys- they're totally out of luck now because I immediately stopped putting seed out so as to NOT bring this guy wandering out of the woods for another snack. Even though he is a nice size, healthy looking bear who took right off when my husband went outside, I'd still rather not "invite" him back! In other news, we went to the anniversary sale at Barnard's Saddlery: http://www.barnardssaddlery.com on Saturday and won a Brand new fly sheet w/ neck in the raffle she held! Good deal, right?! Here's a picture of Cruise checking out his new gear: It's been raining and gross, so he hasn't had to even try it on but today might be the day!
Actual model horse news later . . . Yard news . . . this thing bloomed! First year it's blooming for me since I got it from my neighbor and there are lots more to come! I'm not really sure what I planted so everything will be a fun surprise. I just wish it'd stop raining for a day so I could snap some really good pictures. Here is a Newsworthy pair getting some slight new looks (that require not so slight amounts of work!) They're getting a little more "tucked" in their jumping stance, one's getting a newly braided mane and the other's getting a loose mane and tail- fun little guys! I can't wait to have some completed pics to share! That appy Smarty Jones is done, too! He's one of my all time favorite appies for sure! I see him tacked up in something with a blue theme . . . This is not the tack set for him. This is the ISH, Stoddard's set made by Yvonda Robinett and it's a smidge too big for "Speedy Spots."
I hope this guy makes someone a super cool performance horse this year! He's just been listed on MH$P tonight. Well, time to get back to work on something: Mr. Spot-painting Newsworthy #1 and #2- sculpting Nokota- sculpting . . . eventually Cleveland Bay- who wants to paint him for me?? Clydesdale Mare- sculpting (not prepped yet) Esprit- painting- finishing tonight and going to eBay, most likely I guess that's not entirely true. . . while waiting for the appaloosa Smarty Jones model to dry, I did this: All year long I collect things to tie dye: white hand me downs w/marks on them, new stuff that's 100% cotton, stuff for other people's kids, free shirts. Today was the day I put color to them all! The only shirt I did today that is for me is the second on in from the right and my favorite on is the second in from the left! Most of the rest are for my daughter and friends.
The weather was actually nice and less humid for a few days here and there and I was able to finish up some horses! The Cody model is a portrait of "Tuff" the hackney cross is currently listed on MH$P and the Stone drafter is a commission piece for Emily. Today I'm working on a black and white extended leopard appaloosa on the Smarty Jones mold. I couldn't decide what to do with him for the longest time and then it hit me . . . do what you love, love what you do . . . hence the appaloosa. He's going to make a great performance horse when he's done! In between painting, we rented a mini excavator to do site prep for the shed/chicken coup we're building. We also got it into the paddock to pull stumps for a few hours! Cruise was a good supervisor throughout the process . . . He made it his job to keep tabs on that machine the whole time it was in there and no matter where it moved. He seemed fascinated and concerned all at the same time . . . He just stared out the window for hours while Wayne dug. There was actually a small pile of hay on the ground beneath him as he'd pull a chunk out of the feeder and chew it hanging out the window!
At the end of the work day, he was tired from all the "supervising" . . . and he needed a good roll! I got a fun package the other day containing . . .
