TGIF- Hope everyone had a great weekend!
Just finished this guy, a custom Marwari with newly sculpted (non Marwari style) ears. He's going on MH$P when I get a chance unless someone snatches him up before then! Besides him I've got a bunch of bodies that I'm excited to start messing with AND a custom Astrid in the works as well! I'm really excited about the way she's coming out so I'll have to post some photos of her soon.

Yup, the title pretty much says it all! On the Saturday before Easter we got together with my mother and did EVERYTHING we could within about a 2 hour drive! We started with tickets to the Holland Ridge Tulip Farms and, naturally, I brought along 2 plastic ponies so my kid wouldn't have to pose for a zillion photos! Instead, Winnie, the newest Bunny in my herd, was the subject of many of the photos! After the tulip thing got old (and it was CROWDED so it got old quick!) we Googled the Drive Thru Safari at Six Flags Great Adventure. It was 8 minutes away so we drove over and did that, too! The giraffes were the coolest! We were stuck in giraffe traffic for almost 20 minutes but it was great! I'd say it took us almost 2 hours to drive the whole way through and it was totally work the fifty bucks we paid. At the end of the line we stopped for souvenirs and I got a great picture of my kid holding double ice cream sandwiches at the bottom of KingdaKha (or whatever they call that crazy roller coaster). Then we headed for our original second destination of the day: the beach! Seven Presidents was closer than Sandy Hook so we went there and, naturally, I snapped a few more shots of Winnie who was joined by Riff Raff. Our time at the beach was short lived because it was horribly windy. I'm not even being dramatic here, it was the worst wind and cold that I've ever encountered at any beach along the Atlantic seaboard. Did we still go in the water? Yes. Did I still find some neat rocks and sea glass? Heck yes! Did we run to get off the beach as the wind made the sand sting our legs? Also yes! After escaping that landform we headed up the coast to the Keyport Fishery for a late lunch/early dinner. I brought a TON of grub home for the hubby as well. He was happy and is still eating leftovers 2 days later. You can do that because everything is that fresh! Just to totally blow the day out of the water, we decided to stop at an awesome little local ice cream joint when we were almost home.
It was one awesome day before Easter that exceeded all of our expectations! Dang, I'm usually better than a once a month blogger but these days I don't know- I blame Facebook! This month has been relatively productive. I've got a commission on the Spanish horse in the works and he's almost done. Besides him I've finished up this Strapless fun custom and the Quarter Horse Yearling. They're both on eBay for uncomplicated sales (if such a thing exists these days LOL) I also have been riding the horse like crazy when the weather's good so that's cut into my painting time significantly but I don't particularly care. Once the Spanish horse is done I only have one other commission horse and a dog that I'm working on. That's pretty much right where I want to be right now! Despite the decreased activity in the studio, I'm still managed to grow my Stone herd by a few recently. I'm also kind of unapologetic about it, like I am about most things these days! Here is Winnie the 1/30 model that I only owned in my dreams but who I was able to acquire through a partial trade for a glossy Eclipse mule that just didn't "fit" here in my collection. Winnie accompanied us to the botanical gardens the other day while we were trying to make the most of the week before it ended in rain. She travelled nearly the whole place with us and posed well for photos! It's still super early spring here so there wasn't a ton of stuff in bloom but we found some lovelies to play in! The other new model that joined the herd is called Riff Raff according to his previous owner. He's supposed to be a OOAK from 2016 but there's also no documentation of him pretty much anywhere. He's super cool no matter what he is with is custom mane, tail and flashy but different paint markings! This afternoon found my daughter and I riding together in the backyard before the rain settled in. I'll prime some more body models before I head off to bed. I've got a Marwari whose ears I tweaked as well as an Astrid with a new mane that's hopefully going to be painted this weekend!
Hope everyone had a great rest of their week! |
