Ha! Again, my official horse of the month received like 5 minutes of attention but the rest of the herd got lots of love (an epoxy!) Custom Dominante (or whatever his name is) and a Lady Phase I got from Tractor Supply both sporting new manes- all big and flowy!

Another silly update post . . . what's changed in this horse over the last twelve days? She got a dozen or so spots! That's it! I've just about given up hope of finishing her and I don't particularly care either. I'm not going to rush just to get her done and we've been either sick or doing a lot of other things this month besides painting. We took the long President's Day weekend and traveled to southern New Hampshire with my buddy. We drove up Saturday morning and finally found snow in upstate New York! We stopped at the Bennington Battle monument and ate chocolate covered strawberries. We drove some more until the Green Mountains looked positively fuzzy with the recently fallen snow. I love this shot because I didn't even notice the American flag until I just uploaded it now! We went walking in the deep snow, sledding, and we played around a mostly frozen river. We got to hang out with this handsome teddy bear of a dog, too: Rufus! Tonight I messed around at the studio desk doing some sculpting work so that, hopefully, tomorrow I'll be able to do some painting work in between picking up and sorting Girl Scout Cookies!
Ha! Why am I even bothering posting an update? She doesn't look so different from when I started nine days ago- she does have a few more coats of white, but that's about it. Here's what I actually worked on today instead: a fun St. Patrick's Day guy on the classic QH mold. He was a fun way to attempt to get back into the swing of things after being out of the habit of painting for so long. He's bee listed to eBay and is looking for a great new home! My birthday was Friday. I am 38 now which is old enough to buy my own cake because I'm the only one who can manage to buy the right cake! Funny thing was, the lady at the Dairy Queen didn't want to let me take the cake without SOME writing on it. This is what I decided on after some debate: Worth it. Totally worth it!
Have a great week everyone! Here's the progress of Day #2 . . . It's not impressive, at least I'm not impressed. I'm still not feeling great though so it doesn't really matter to me. Something happened, I took a picture, gold star for me. I spent enough time on the couch this weekend to accomplish more in the crochet department than the painting studio. The horses looked super pretty waiting for breakfast this morning. Then it snowed all over us off and on all day long . . . . . . and it's still snowing tonight!
Happy Groundhog Day! That's right, folks, National Model Painting Month is here and this is my body model: She's a Valentine with a totally new mane, tail and feathering. Not sure what I was going for with the resculpting but she came out pretty neat. She'll be painted to a wild (as time allows) appaloosa. I'm not posting the typical selfie with the bare model before painting because I'm sick and look like trash. I was so messed up yesterday that the husband fed the horses for me at night- that hasn't happened in years! I managed to drag myself out of bed long enough yesterday to unbox this handsome guy, Carter, the new Collector's Club SR. I was stuck in a painfully boring meeting Wednesday which lead me to purchase him. Glad I did! I also can't wait for this mold to be released as a regular run so I can play around with him in all different colors! Black Frame Overo anyone?
Alongside the NaMoPaiMo horse this month I'll be working on two others that are still in the midst of having thier manes and tail resculpted. Dominante (or whatever the heck his name is) will be windblown and the Wintersong will feature double running braids with bows in his mane! |
