Not a full recap of vacation but just a few of the highlights here today: Saying we had a great time is a total understatement but it was nice to get back to seeing these faces out my window in the morning . . . even though they're not the ocean!

The kiddie pool has been filled: The garden weeded, The clothes packed, The shopping done, The fly gear donned: The house cleaned (as much as it ever is!), The grain measured out and bagged, The hay thrown down and organized The SeaHorse secured in his travel box: By this time tomorrow there will be salt air in our lungs!
Cape Cod or Bust! You'd never think that a hot, nasty weekend would turn out to be SO productive but somehow it did! First, I started crocheting on Friday night in an effort to wrap up a couple of long standing baby blanket projects. First thing Saturday I sewed together this one: It's a big 6 square with all sorts of shades of blue. The border is some new yarn that's just like velvet! I love it but it says "hand wash only." We'll see how it holds up I guess. In between rounds on the afghan I worked on final coats on this guy: He's got a big, fluffy new mane and a relatively simple paint job. He sold in less than 12 hours to a long time friend and fellow hobbyist AND he'll be going with a big blue roan Georg model as well! Speaking of the Georg mold, this guy was literally just finished: I swear it took as long with the air grinder removing his original mane and tail as it did to resculpt them once the prep work was done! I'm really loving this mold and have a bunch of fun working on him! I never planned to keep this guy but as soon as he was done (READ: once I painted his eyeballs!) I knew I had to swap one of the other models out and put him on my shelf! The next one I have planned will be even more of an extensive remaking than this guy was. He'll be more of a summer project though. I don't want to start him and lose momentum when we go away. Besides all the yarn and paint work I managed to help wear out the dogs both days this week and ride Nighthawk this afternoon as well. We only tooled around for 15-20 minutes with the bareback pad on but it was enough for both of us to break a sweat and for her to need a good roll afterwards! Here's hoping everyone keeps cool if you're stuck in this heat wave like we are! Have a great week!
Today is Guinivere's twenty third birthday! She celebrated this afternoon with a whole lot of brand new Daybreak Muffins. I, unapologetically, order 55 dollars worth of horse treats for her special day and they arrived just in time. We decided to go with the "Peace, Love and Purple" variety bag first and it was a big hit! She's such a good girl, worth her weight in gold to us and so completely worth the time, money and effort over these last 19 years! Happy Birthday Brownstone's Guinivere!
