I'll leave you today with a picture of one of my CM Wintersong models that has a french braided mane, top of tail and a wild bay sabino paint job. Shelves are getting a little scrunchy so I'm thinking of re-homing him . . . what do you think? A show home for him would be super cool as I think he'd totally rock a nice dressage set!
The weather's cooling down and I've gotten my first winter fantasy model commission nearly completed. V.L. commissioned an beautiful cantering Andalusian CM last year and she's adding a Legionario to the line up this year. Here's his "almost done" picture. I'm disappointed that his rich purples are showing up on photos as a grayish blue . . . Tomorrow will be a studio day as it's supposed to be a little rainy but mostly chilly and raw. I can't wait to get pictures from Emily of a few of my horses winning at today's show for her! Always exciting!

Yay! This was fun to find in my e-mail box this morning! It's the . . . Which, until today, I had never heard of but it seems awful fun! So, I answer 10 questions, make up 10 more and then nominate another blog (with less than 200 followers) so they can do the same!
Here were the questions posed by my new model horse buddy at https://cedarwoodstables.wordpress.com/ 1: Best model horse buy? My best model horse buy was probably Alpine. My dad bought him for me for Christmas years ago when you had to "call in" to Breyer for the opportunity to purchase the SR's. Getting through to customer service to order was always a challenge but my father, being retired from the phone company, knew just how to get through on the first try! 2: Ever had a model horse barn set up? Nope. but my daughter will be getting one shortly for her herd of Mistys! 3: Any Peter Stone models? I have the Little Bird and Fledgeling pair and After Six with a glossy black weanling foal. Other than that they're too darn expensive . . . but I might spring for a glossy Quick Thaw someday! 4: How many Schleichs (if any) do you have? My daughter's got a carpet herd of close to twenty. 5: Favourite type of horse riding? E.g barrel racing, dressage, jumping… My quarter horse and I loved team penning, running barrels and poles but as he got up in age we found trail riding just the right speed. Now he's a really expensive lawn ornament and my favorite type of riding is sitting on him bareback as he eats! 6: Ever been to Breyerfest? (Or any other model horse event) Never to Breyerfest but I get to a show or two every year to show my customs. 7: Least favourite horse colour? Not sure I have one . . . badger faces don't thrill me though. 8: If you could design a Regular Model for Breyer, what would it’s mold, colour, eye colour and markings be? Ooo, Wintersong, glossy, shaded, dappled chestnut tobiano paint, maybe a blue eye 9: Do you have a subscription to a horse or craft magazine? Just the yearly JAH 10: Favourite thing about the model horse hobby? Meeting new people and having them challenge me as an artist! OK, so as I understand the directions, I have to nominate some folks so here they are: https://shoestringstable.wordpress.com/ and http://lastalliancestudios.blogspot.com/ And here are my questions to them: 1. How far back do you remember loving horses? 2. Which brands do you collect and why? 3. Any real horses in your life? Breeds and names, please! 4. What is your favorite medium to create horsey art? 5. What is your favorite color for a big, feathered draft horse? 6. What is the largest and/or smallest your model collection has ever been? 7. Who do you share your collection with? 8. What's your best recent purchase model horse or otherwise? 9. What's your favorite accessory piece (blanket, saddle, etc) 10. Who are YOU going to nominate? Have fun everyone! Thanks again Cedarwood Stable and Studios! Well, it happened . . . It was a peaceful fall day. The leaves are all ablaze, the air was crisp, and then this happened . . . First Snow! Yay! Naturally we had to run out in it despite being dreadfully under dressed. It took about 30 seconds for use to be totally freezing, probably because we ran out in our socks! Totally worth it!
Oh yeah, and in between moving firewood and blowing leaves today I actually painted some and got a little resin Andalusian listed on MH$P! I have a big tobiano Cleveland Bay and a little tobiano SM pony in the works. I'm also pretty excited to be working on a Croi Damsha (or however the heck you spell that one!) She's going to be a pintaloosa! Pictures coming soon! |
