This morning out parade got rained out so we were rained in. The hen turkey that always comes around in the spring spent over an hour on the garden fence.. . and another lounging in the freshly spread straw covering the whole backyard. Cruise and Guin took to watching grass grow . . . or at least we're all hoping the grass is growing underneath that straw since we're getting all this rain. I was able to finish off the braided Idocus model that's been waiting for color for weeks. He's actually sunburnt black but these indoor pics don't capture any of the brown tones or pastel shading. I used an old reference pic I got from a client years ago to work on his pattern and I think it suits him well! He's flashy but respectable, I think. His name, so far, is Aves and he's been listed on sales pages along with a new English bridle I just got and probably won't be using (because me and fancy little tongue buckles are NOT a good combination!) We have off tomorrow and the farrier's coming to work on Cruise's awful feet. Fingers crossed he can improve the old guy's situation! After that, I'm making a run to the post office. If there's anything you want that I could mail out tomorrow just shoot me an e-mail!

Good news! The Isaac model found a new home and will be heading to the midwest on Tuesday! The other two are still casually looking for new homes but I don't really care if they go anywhere right away. Wednesday Addams is also looking for a new place to live. She's been a member of my show string for 3 years and has done well, NAN'ing twice already. Boy is she easy to pack up for shows! Check out her ad on MH$P. In studio news, the Smarty Jones for Emily is done, done, DONE and he, too, shall be departing on Tuesday for his new home! Besides the studio work, we beat the heck out of ourselves redoing the entire backyard over the past 2 days: spreading 4 tandem trucks of topsoil (thank God for the Bobcat!), leveling, raking, seeding, fertilizing and spreading straw all at a breakneck pace in order to beat the rain that's expected tonight.
Now all that's left to do is watch the grass grow (hopefully!) I'm expecting the farrier to come today to trim Cruise and Guinivere but, in the meantime, I'll start on the braided Idocus who's been patiently waiting for color. Have a wonderful, safe Memorial Day weekend everyone! Limited shelf space has struck again and there are a few horses looking for new homes. These two are living on top of my roll top desk right now . . . that's not really OK! Besides, one or both of them really need to hit the shows more often than I do! I've got kind of a sick amount of ISHs right now. For someone who claims not to conga any mold in particular, there are currently 6 on my shelves and 1 on my night table (because who doesn't keep plastic horses on their night table?!) Because I want room for my new chocolate roan ISH on the shelves, Isaac is being offered for sale. Of course, no one would have to go anywhere if I'd just keep one less Cleveland Bay model . . . anyone dying for a nice Limerick or J.C. Penny Palomino? I can't decide which one to list so I'm going to end up not listing either of them! If there's a spot at your stable I could be tempted to sell one off!
Hope everyone's staying dryer than we are here- what rain! I'll be painting again over the long weekend, hopefully, and will have pictures of the CM Smarty Jones and the Idocus soon! Jolts Jubilee went well for our friend, Morgan, who showed her appy CM Smarty Jones Speedy Spots and CM Bay Carrick model Mara's Warlock!
Way to go Morgan! Thanks, as always, for sending such great pics of the boys! Finally a weekend with good weather! Saturday was the perfect working day so we got a lot done in the garden AND "Grassland" is officially open for grazing! Guinivere and Cruise are delighted! I've also got an Idocus that's nearly prepped and ready to go as an appaloosa (I know, you're shocked at my color choice!) and a red roan Smarty Jones who's nearing the halfway point. It was a weekend of great weather and great progress!
We finished it off with a campfire burning up the loose sticks and branches around the yard and we had a few s'mores, too! Now we're *almost* ready to face the full week before the long Memorial Day weekend! Cruise turned 27 on Thursday! It was a crazy day at work and we had a Fish Fry at the firehouse that night but I still made it home in time to bake him a carrot cake to celebrate! I did a bundt cake and lightly dusted it with sugar since he's not a huge fan of frosting and the only stuff I had was frozen and dyed yellow . . . wouldn't match the carrot cake! He and Guin were excited and came trotting/cantering over. Guess his 200 dollar boots are working out pretty well! He finished off the day enjoying the nice weather with an outdoor dinner alongside his longtime buddy. It was nice to be able to feed them outside on this mild and relatively bug free evening. A perfect end to a nice horsey day!
Happy Birthday, Cruise! Everyday you are with us is truly a gift! OK, I love showing my palomino Wyatt, "Jake from State Farm" but the Stone Palouses are sucking me into their web, so I think I'm going to show them more frequently in performance. That means this guy is for sale to a good home . . . I've got an add for him on the Sales Pages and I'm including ALL his stuff- right down to the super realistic, moldable, speed enhancing dust (AKA Shepherd hair!) I hope someone snatches him up and shows the heck out of him this year because he's ready to go! Speaking of showing, I've added to the Winner's section on the homepage. There have been some pretty sweet wins for some of my customs around the country and in Canada so I had to add the pictures! I also just added this guy on the sales pages (and I might've dropped him on eBay,too, I forget. He's taking up so much room and he is so cool I don't want to store him for too long! I can't wait for him to start his show career, too! He'd make a great halter horse and an even better performance guy! Hope everyone's having a wonderful week- it's almost Friday!
The weather has been great for studio work so I'm hoping to finish the details on a huge frame overo Ruffian in time for her to be shown at Pocono Ponies which is THIS SATURDAY! AHH! The Renaissance outfit has been completed for Tall, Dark and Handsome so we'll see how that does. Everyone and everything else is packed up and ready to go (at least as ready as they'll ever be!) Just need to gas up the truck on the way home from work tomorrow and we will be ready to hit the open road . . . it will most definitely be open 'cause we're leaving at 5 in the morning on Saturday! In other news, Scott arrived yesterday and he's super cute! I was kind of hoping for a glossy guy so he's looking for a new home right now. Enjoy some spring shots from around the yard! Can't wait to see model horse pals old and new at Pocono Ponies this Saturday!
