We also took out Easter pictures yesterday afternoon. I need to get bigger ears because Nighthawk's ears are pretty big and you can hardly see the bunny ears!

Here's the place to find out what's on my painting table, what's happening around the farm, and what's coming up next!
Yup, you read that right, it's Tuesday and I'm typing! I wish I had some sort of studio update or progress on anything but I don't. It's been really nice outside so we've been playing with the mares 'til dark for the last few nights. There's rain in the forecast so I expect to get some painting done in the not so distant future. Also, there's this thing tying me up: The mandala crochet project is driving me crazy but every round makes it look cooler and cooler so I can't stop! It's from the Crystal and Crochet website. She's got a bunch of well written patterns for any of the other crocheters out there. We also took out Easter pictures yesterday afternoon. I need to get bigger ears because Nighthawk's ears are pretty big and you can hardly see the bunny ears! Guinivere was just as excited to get dressed up as she was to spend 3 hours getting brushed and pampered by her kid! I didn't dress up Eugene again because there is NO WAY to beat last year's picture, even though he's still all skinny and stuff in it. This face:

Last night another appy left the studio:
Meanwhile, we had ANOTHER day off because of snow today. We used up all our snow days so they'll be pulling from break or something. There are only 4-5 inches on the ground now but we had plenty under that already!
Hopefully I'll have a CM Bobby Jo for your consideration shortly! I'm also looking for some suggestions for a Nokota CM. Nothings been done to him yet so he's a totally blank slate. Of course, I'm leaning towards making him an appy- you can never have too many of those! Have a great night everyone- keep warm! In my long standing tradition of animal torture, today the herd of greys was dressed up in their most festive Irish outfits (READ: hats- they all wore hats) It was Nighthawk's second time playing dress up, only Eugene's third time and Guinvere's like 100th time. She, of course, just stood there and let me put anything on her- she knew there would be cookies in the end. Eugene mostly put up with me but took great pleasure in flinging his hat off several times. Nighthawk did well but wanted to wear her hat like some rapper instead of on top of her head! So, after a whole lot of pictures of flinging head, crocked hats and closed eyes . . . We finally got a few really nice pictures!
Yup, it happened again . . . more snow! This time is was no joke- over 2 feet of the fluffy white stuff and 2 days off from school. We're almost out of snow days now. We got so much snow this time it was hard for the ponies to get around and it made the big mare look small! I've been working on the SM custom model little by little in the rotten weather and I'm also still priming the Bobby Jo CM whenever nothing is flying through the air! I hope to start painting her next week. In the meantime, several of my sale horses have found new homes, including the Showtime resin, Lightning Does the Work. I'm looking forward to hearing how she performs for Jacquie and I'm so glad she's going to a show home! As life in general starts to calm down I hope to put some color on this girl! While I got back and forth deciding her new look I'm still chipping away at this crocheted mandala from the Mandala Madness pattern. This round has me working with 2 colors simultaneously, hiding one or the other. It's a challenge!
Instead of painting this weekend, a group of girlfriends and I headed out to the Horse World Expo in Harrisburg, P.A. We had a great time (despite getting up at 5 AM to leave!) and got to see some neat exhibits like Rescued to Stardom, The train horse Champion competition, a Logging Demonstration, and Guy McLean doing liberty work.
Ginger Horse had a booth set up and was selling models. I was tempted by the new dappled grey shire but I resisted. One thing I didn't resist was a new pair of boots! I've wanted these for awhile and finally scored myself a pair. They were my only big purchase of the day, although I wouldn't have minded hooking up to this sharp looking 2 horse slant load trailer they had. . . probably why the husband sent me there in the car instead of my truck . . . Have a great week everyone! A rearing SM CM and a Bobby Jo CM will be coming soon (with any luck!) This time yesterday we were checking out the first snowdrops and crocus bulbs that are blooming in the front yard. This time yesterday the horses ate outside the way they like to. Today is very different from yesterday. This morning the girls met me at the gate despite the snow. Casey did a pretty trot on her way out, before jumping up and down. By lunch time the snow had become wind-driven and it was getting pretty ugly outside. You can't see the trees moving in this picture but I assure you they are! You also can barely see the horse in this picture but she's there! By early afternoon I put Guinivere in the stall with Eugene (who was lucky enough to be in all day!) and Casey in the other stall. There were trees and branches coming down and they were starting to get freaked out. Just came inside and I think I had to wake the 3 of them up to give them dinner! It was kind of chilly to work out in the studio by the windows today so I crocheted on the couch instead. I'm working on this mandala pattern I found online. It's called "Mandala Madness" and, after working on round 21 out of 100+ I'm finding out why it's named that! Some horse buddies and I are hopefully heading to the Horse World Expo out in PA tomorrow so perhaps there'll be some studio updates on Sunday after I get to hit a few models with another coat of primer or two.
Have a safe and happy weekend everyone! |
