This is one little quote that not only brings me a smidge of joy but also is one of those, "Kidding, not kidding," sort of things . . .
Pandemic?
Lockdown?
Virtual teaching?
Still lockdown?
Virtual graduation?
Hybrid teaching?
Remote everything?
Google is Life!?
August found us in the state of Maine for which I could not be more thankful. I know more vacations that were cancelled than that went as planned for people this year. After careful planning, testing and isolation the polished granite stones felt like heaven on my bare feet.
In October we all worked to find our way in the new world of Hybrid Learning. Some did better than others but we're almost all where we need to be now. November found me driving a new truck, a GMC no less! I was almost heartbroken to trade in my Cookie truck but I wasn't going to put an engine and trans in THAT one before I sold it (been there, done that).
"Moon" is a 2021 because I didn't want a huge reminder of 2020 in the driveway . . . any because it was what they had in stock. Here she is waiting at the trailhead on Monday as we returned from the first leg of the New York section of the AT. We're going to keep going, at least to the Hudson River, and then we'll see what we feel like doing from there. The mountains and that trail are wonderful, cheap therapy!
As I sit here staring down the barrel of 2021, these words have never been more true or applied more than they do right now:
Thankful, Blessed, Hopeful
We have our health, our family, the horses, the dogs, the chickens and all are well. For that I could not be more thankful.
Now I'm going to go sit on the couch and watch the Office on Netflix with my daughter until midnight when it is removed from the streaming service. After that I'll go outside to be with the horses as a myriad of idiots light off fireworks all around us for twenty minutes or so and I'll throw the glow in the dark "Chew Year's Ball" that I got from the Bark Box for Nora if she's awake enough to run around.
Wishing Everyone a Happy and Healthy New Year!
