OK now on to my next model: Lady Phase!
Whew! Another one done, sealed up and listed on MH$P this weekend! This guy took a LOT of epoxy- more than I had planned because I didn't want to cheap out on his luxurious mane and tail since they started out so nice to begin with. He was prepped, got his new hair and then this wild Tiger Horse style paint job: Oh yeah, and a sculpted a bow and rose onto her tail just to be a little fancier! I can't wait to see what colors his new owner picks to have them painted!

In my effort to complete more models (or at least the one's that have been here for awhile!) here is the first to escape the studio! She was supposed to be my NaMoPaiMo horse but, even with the Leap Day thrown in there, I just plain old didn't have enough time to complete her. I bombed again, just like last year with the hairy Shannondell, oh well! I think this year I had more fun going to New Hampshire for the long weekend and trekking out to the Horse World Expo with the girls than I would have completing her within the time frame allotted.
Either way, she's done now. All hairy legged, swishing tail, unkempt mane of her is done. She's a little tricky to get a picture of on account of her pose making legs look long and ears look huge depending on the camera angle. Check out the pics though and let me know if she needs to belong to YOUR stable for the spring! More to come . . . As of Sunday night, I have decided to hike the New Jersey section of the Appalachian Trail. I've been wanting to spend some time out there for awhile now and I've done a few hikes on it in the dark during my Search and Rescue days. With all this talk of "social distancing" going around, now seems like a good time! Thursday my buddy and I hiked to the NY State line and then headed northwest for about 4 miles. Hopefully we'll get out again this weekend and a few times next week. We're doing some "distance learning" at school for the next two weeks so I'll be at the computer LOTS checking in and communicating with my sixth graders (hopefully they'll be doing stuff!) I have also set a lofty goal for myself to finish at least 5 models before I officially return to work on the 30th. I've got so many that are so close to being done that I think I can do it! Stay safe out there everyone!
So, it's the 6th of March and I'm still not sure what the heck happened to February! The first weekend was my birthday, the second was running around and doing stuff with the kid and the third I was in NH. Then there was a free weekend that was oh so quickly followed by the Horse World Expo Girls Weekend in Harrisburg, PA! That's always a good time and this year was no different. We headed out Friday afternoon and stopped at Cabela's and Cracker Barrel on the way. After dropping our stuff off at the hotel,we headed over to the PA Farm Show Complex only a few minutes away. We used a different app this year and it took us to *gasp* regular people parking! I'm kind of a princess and used to parking directly across the street from the front door. Not sure how I figured out how to do it but it's just always what I've done . . . anyway, "peasant parking" was a pain in the butt. Despite that inconvenience, we were able to snag some vanilla milkshakes and get inside with plenty of time for the Theatre Equus! The performances did NOT disappoint this year but, looking back, I'm finding I took exactly one picture of a non gray horse . . . not too biased, am I?! There were some very cool performers- one guy in particular who seems to be able to pretty much drive anything! The show was longer than last year and had a nice variety of performers, too. Saturday we had hotel breakfast . . . waffles . . . mmmmmm . . . and headed over to do some shopping and watch the clinics. We started, like the last few years, with the Trail Challenge show. My favorite pair was this lady and her big draft! We saw her last year, too. After a fun overnight with the girls, lots of pretty horses and some shopping (3 Nobel outfitters shirts ON SALE, a new purple halter for Nighthawk, 2 milkshakes, an amazing apple strudle, a bucket, wormers, vet wrap and a few odds and ends) we headed home. It's nice to get away and watch talented folks with their horses but it's also really nice to get home and play with your own dopey mares! Have a great weekend everyone!
Maybe I'll get some painting done. . . |
