Happy Galentine's Day, Ladies!
My hands are so dry they are cracking because of all the random studio stuff I've done lately. I started prepping the Winter's Whimsy model that just arrived even though I've been telling myself that she's not getting painted before Remington does. She'll probably need another soak and scrub down but tonight I found a great way to hold her under the water while she soaks! For a few years now I've been trying to get a "Bunny" resin model in order to create a portrait of Nighthawk. I love everything about that mold. She's tall, thick, and has a pretty arched neck. She'd make a good big mare. However, those resins go for a ZILLION dollars- money that I'd rather spend on the ACTUAL horse that's in my backyard. So, enter "Winter's Whimsey" by Lynn Fraley, another draft mare in her wooly winter coat. While the Bunny resin would be a lovely base for a portrait model, the more I look at this lady, the more I think that SHE would be a more accurate representation of my goofy girl! (photo from Lynn's website) This guy was a fun challenge! He came to me in a body lot but he had no ears and his face has been filed down quite a bit. I knew he needed new ears and I happened to have a matching pair that I had made awhile ago. I made one ear listening behind him for added interest and I also filled in his face and increased his profile to make him "thicker" overall. He's also got a new mane and thickened tail. Then more St. Patrick's Day horses happened! These two will be listed on eBay in a matter of moments: It was drizzling freezing rain when stepped out with Sam before and we're expecting some hairy weather tomorrow as well. There might not be any priming and sealing but there will be painting and sculpting at some point for sure!
